Okay, I'm a PC.

I have Roxio 12 on my laptop, it's slower than frozen maple syrup.

I copied a CD for a friend this weekend and it took forever.

Importing into iTunes also takes forever (which I think is Apple's way of wanting me to buy music in the iTunes store rather than import CDs I already own)

Is there a decent and speedy software I can use to copy/burn discs? Seems to me with the processor and RAM I have on the laptop, this process should not take forever. I do not remember it doing so on old Bessie.

PT068 Assembly, Dvd+/-rw, 8X, IDE SPSY, Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology

i suspect it's the CD that is the problem, right?

I use Nero (http://www.nero.com/), only because it came with my CD/DVD-RW combo drive. I don't think there's anything particularly special about it other than it does the job, does it right/fast, doesn't get in the way, and makes it pretty easy. I guess that's all I really need though.

Mine goes really fast - I don't think it's a Mac conspiracy just yet. :D

See, there's your problem.

I used Nero for general burning and copying. A program called Accoustica for all music burning. Both are fast and easy. Accoustica has a better-designed interface for music, imo.
