Cool Harry Potter Theme Park (http://www.universalorlando.com/harrypotter/) in the works.

(well - not a whole theme park - but part of Islands of Adventure.)

Conceptual drawings leave me thinking this could go lame quickly. But the idea of it is fun! I do love magical stuff.

The construction photos I've seen thur far don't show much... It looks they have a ton to do before opening day. I wonder if they're going to have to push that back...

Opening day isn't until 2010.

The main show building for the main ride is structurally complete, there are pictures of the facade pieces being finished offsite before installation at IOA.

Conseptual drawings shows it being a bunch of stores and resturaunts. A ride or two would be nice.

Sounds like this might be on the cards for a return visit...

They could make a great roller coaster with the quiditch/snitch theme I would think.

Pressler must be in charge.

IOA is such an awesome Theme Park...I'm sure there will be more than just stores and eateries. At least I hope so!

Kevin Yee's review (http://miceage.micechat.com/kevinyee/ky060810a.htm) of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter gives it high marks.

So does Norm's (http://micechat.com/forums/universal-studios/138452-wizarding-world-harry-potter-pics-ride-review.html).

The ride sounds terrific from the description, and may even overcome being mostly movie. Dunno, would have to see for myself - and that's not ever likely.

I'm glad the Hogsmeade shops are authentically tiny, though of course that will be a theme-park nightmare. I don't see how they could have worked otherwise, though.

It seems from the photos at least that Hogwarts is a cake-top decoration, like WDW's Haunted Mansion - and not a remotely full-sized castle that you can convincingly enter. A minor quibble I guess. The area looks great. I wish I could go!

Hogwarts is set atop a HUGE showbuilding box.

iSm, did you ever ride Horizons? Remember how immersive the Omnimax dome flying was in that? Imagine combining that with a ride system smoother than Spiderman or Indiana Jones. Then add physical effects that literally come closer to any modern ride vehicle you've ever been on.

Horizons was my favorite ride on the Planet, and the film DNA chain my favorite single moment in all of attraction history - - but if that movie segment had been the entire ride, it would have been a dud, imo. Don't get me wrong, the Potter ride sounds awesome, but I don't suspend my disbelief strongly enough on movie-based rides. Not yet anyway.

iSm - maybe you should join Rose and I on our next visit to IoA?

Heheh, yeah, if you pay for it. I'm broke for the next year at least!
