Hey Coaster Matt:

I saw a NatGeo article on coasters today: ROLLER COASTER PICTURES: 125 Years of Thrills (http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/06/photogalleries/roller-coaster-pictures-anniversary/index.html)

In the article they mention "Leap the Dips" the oldest operating coaster in the world. I was wondering if you have a coaster credit for it.

The world's oldest operating roller coaster, Leap the Dips, opened in 1902 and is still going strong at Pennsylvania's Lakemont Park

I've got the credit, and I donated $100 to it's restoration.

It's really fun, and the whole family can ride- we saw plenty of people holding toddlers when we rode.

For all those wondering what it's like to ride... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMnruGC0SgE)

Thrilling in 1902 !! Still thrilling today (note the ominous creaking sounds....)

Oh, and BTW: the 1912 Melbourne Luna Park's Scenic Railway (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkHaAYAA3MM)is still the world's oldest continually operating switchback railway. So there. :p

Here's (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzQ42Ynai78) another excellent old old ride - the Rutschebane at Tivoli Gardens - especially nice knowing that Walt Disney experienced this attraction.

What does one-sided friction coaster mean? Brakes on only one side?

Here's a good article (http://www.rollercoastermayhem.com/sidefrictionarticle.html) on just what a side friction coaster is
