A friend of mine is looking to take his students to the fashion district in Downtown LA. He's looking to stay someplace nice and affordable. Any ideas anyone?

How reasonable? On weekends you can get rooms at the Hilton Checkers for $120, and you can get a room at the Biltmore for about that anytime.
