This Friday!

Are we having a meet?

If one hasn't been planned yet, may I propose Carnation Plaza at about 1pm, where there is lovely shade?

And perhaps a Hearthstone or Lounge55 meet in the evening?

We'll be driving down that afternoon and might possibly make it before closing, and we'll be at the MP birthday meet and mini-MA on Saturday. Unfortunately work obligations would not let us actually be there all day on Friday.

What's the big deal about July 17th? Is that when the Dragon FINALLY makes its debut?

Finally- one event I can say I'll actually be at!!! We'll be there- we're staying at the DLH for the duration of our trip, so a DTD meet would be cool as well.

Oh, and Scrooge is gonna be there later, right? I think he arrives the day after we do, and he's also at the DLH. (Yaayyyy!!!)

Scratch that- he's there the 18th. We shall definitely be having a meet with that boy, so maybe I should bring up his thread and start with the planning....

I think Scrooge is day after birthday, which means I'll head back.

I'll be at the Park around 3:00 on Friday, the 17th. Haven't missed a Disneyland Birthday since 1978, bitches!

Um, yes, that's since before most of you were born. Uh huh.

I may be there for the fireworks, but 7:00 is about the best I can do. I still haven't seen them yet, the last two efforts fizzled, so we'll see how this one goes.

We're blocked, but if there's doings in DTD in the evening we'll gladly meet up.It's not DtD's birthday, that's in Feb. ;)

We're, of course, there all day. What would an evening DTD look like? What time?

innerSpaceman
07-12-2009, 12:07 PM
This is all getting very confusing.

I can't speak for too many people, but a usual dinner in DTD wouldn't work for me on the 17th, unless it was earlyish. Fortunately (or not), the complete DragonFailure of Summer Failtastic means I won't be camping out on the Rivers of America ... but I've yet to see the new fireworks show, so I'll want to be in the Park for that

... and in general, to experience the unique magic that sets Disneyland Birthday apart, 9 years out of 10, you have to be IN Disneyland.

So ... in one thread there's talk of a more DTD-DLH-centric day on Saturday, the 18th ... but in another thread, the same people are discussing a Queen Mary / Casa de Cone-Meinke Cocktail Party for Saturday the 18th.

07-12-2009, 12:10 PM
The Queen Mary/Cocktail Party has ow usurped a day in DL on the 18th. Now, if you want to go to DL on the 18th there's no reason why you can't and just go to the cocktail party in the evening. We are all free to do what we want. But, out of town guests get to make the plans, there there you have it.

Morrigoon
07-12-2009, 12:10 PM
I wasn't really suggesting a dinner meet. On a crowded day like the 17th, a beverage meet is far more practical/relaxing/possible.

wendybeth
07-12-2009, 12:14 PM
Keep in mind that Scrooge in going to be there until the 20th, and we will be leaving the 21st. DTD meets and swim sessions are still very much workable!

innerSpaceman
07-12-2009, 12:22 PM
Well, who are we talking about when we refer to the AP-challenged?

I know there's Ghoulish Delight and Cadaverous Pallor. Who else? I'm guessing a Long Beach cocktail party and/or Queen Mary meet would work just as well for anyone who can't get into the Park at the current time.

Damn... thanks to the wonderfulness of work, I won't be anywhere near Disneyland on the 17th of July for the first time in a LONG time. Back when they used to do cool stuff for it.

We don't have any solid plans for Friday except our lunch reservations. We're mostly going to be accomodating dad, but we're down to meet up with people who are around in the afternoon or evening or however it happens. We're playing it flexible for his trip.

Well, there WILL be a Happy Hour on the 17th, and that means somewhere in DTD. I love the Swank Bar, so that's my leading candidate. Just have to be back in the Park in time for fireworks.

Might try walk-up Haunted Mansion area viewing of Fantasmic late show, last minute to see if Dragon will there by Disneyland Birthday ... or if it's officially declared Summer Failtastic. But no camping out at all, or even waiting more than 5 minutes.

So, by all means please join us for Diz Birthday Happy Hour if you don't have an AP.

Ahem, not everyone will be at the Casa C-M Cocktail Party. Let me be as frank as some people inadvertently were in a thread they assumed I could not access: I plain and simple don't feel welcome at the Cone-Meinke household, and I'm not sure I'll have the chutspah to attend a party there.

Sounds like there has already been drama.

Think of it as a commercial for an upcoming show. ;)

Everyone is welcome at our house. That has always been the case with a very few exceptions (and even then, as long as the exceptions behave exceptionally well, I have no issue).

Creating drama over a non-issue is simply boring.

Morrigoon
07-13-2009, 12:36 PM
How about Swank Bar at around 7PM then?

Swank Bar at 7 sounds like a plan. Then, if people want to depart to go see pyro or Fantasmic, they may do so, and if people don't, they may stick around.

Sounds like we're brewing plans for a Disneyland Birthday Drink-Up at the Swank Bar at 7pm on July 17, Disneyland's 54th Birthday.

The Swank Bar is not its real name (does it have one?) ... but it's inside the Disneyland Hotel, adjacent to the Goofy's Kitchen entrance.

Morrigoon
07-13-2009, 02:15 PM
I believe the official name is Lounge55. But for those who are still confused, it's the former Brass Bar, in the DLH next to Goofy's Kitchen. When you see it, you'll know ;)

innerSpaceman

So, um, call around if you arrive earlier. Otherwise, 7pm at the Swank Bar. Back in the Park around 8 or 8:30. Magical evening. Fireworks. Fun.
