OK, so, we've got a plan.
Sometime in the afternoon (about 2 pm) people (WB Clan, Sam and Whomever) will be heading to The Long Beach Casa de Feline where we will then head to the Queen Mary for a tour and fun.
In the evening (7pm-ish) there will be a cocktail party at Casa de Feline with our out of town guests. All are welcome to join any or all of the events.
WB will be posting the QM Tour options so you can give your opinions on which you would prefer as well as an option to RSVP to the Cocktail Party.
Sidecars included in the price of admission. ;)

Unless you're really into cheesy "spook house" SFX, I'd recommend avoiding the Ghosts & Legends Tour (and everything associated with it). Sadly, it has taken over some interesting parts of the ship that you now can only see on this tour.
The Behind the Scenes is hit-or-miss; it all depends on what parts of the ship are available that day, and which tour guide you get. Ive been on great ones that took us to parts of the ship I've never seen, and ones where we were basically shown the same rooms that you see on the Self-Guided Tour.
I've never been on the submarine, so I have no opinion on that one.

Those people trash the ship every year! Why do they still have them!?!?

We're in for whatever. We took the twilight tour with the Rat's mom the day my condo closed. I had an extremely strong drink in the observation bar. It was most delicious.

This sounds lovely, and dad may be interested - but we're going to play by ear and see how we're feeling after a day at the park. (Is that OK, or do we have to have tickets in advance?)

The submarine was interesting. We didn't get the movie, just the going through the sub. I doubt we'll be up for this. I might be able to talk hubster into the cocktail party. We'll see.

I think I've done me too much Queen Mary in my life. I'd go along just for the ride, cause anything we do together turns out fun ... but I realize it's the first weekend of that minor film sensation ... Harry Freaking Potter ... and though I'll have seen it already, others I know and love will want to see it on Saturday.
So, i'm thinkin' I'll be doing that in the afternoon, and plan on joining everyone at the Cocktail Party afterwards.
* * * *
It's hard for me to enjoy the Queen Mary on a tour in retrospect to all the adventures I'd had there. My two faves were a wedding and a big New Years Eve party where a large group of us both times snuck below decks and wandered the tiny stairways, dank corridors and creeky catwalks above huge boilerooms in the bowels of the grand ship, all dressed in tuxedoes and gowns, playing Poseidon Adventure.
HAHAHAHAHA fun.

Unless you're really into cheesy "spook house" SFX, I'd recommend avoiding the Ghosts & Legends Tour (and everything associated with it).I second this one. Think projections of "ghosts" on some scrims, and a tour guide saying "Look everyone! We have made contact!" It's not even as good as cheesy. It's faux cheesy. It's the cheese whiz of tourist attractions.
Have fun though everyone! Wish we could be there, but we have a prior commitment that day and evening. But, we should be seeing most of you Friday night or so.

At least on the 18th the cocktails and nosh will be free - although the variety might be more limited. (We've got 4 different cocktails planned - 3 using different spirits and one non-alcoholic.) Food - well, I'm still working on that aspect.

Not looking good at this point. I have a golf outing that would prevent the queen mary outing, and we have a cemetery screening that night.
However, there are a lot of days between then and now.

Woke up at 7. Went back to sleep at 9. Woke up at 11:30. Now feeling bad because I've dissed my good friends going on the quilt run. But, I'm exhausted. Chris is now taking his turn at napping. He cleaned most of the dishes while I was sleeping. I guess that means I have to mop the sticky floor.
And, in true form, a glass was broken. This time it was Charles and Twitter who broke it (mostly Charles' fault).
We had Twitter visiting with Wolfey and Wolfette! He's such a cutie! He and Rupert became friends and he knew right away I was a dog lover. When the kits were in the cat room and Wolfy was out back, I became his surrogate - he jumped up on my lap and fell asleep.
My house is officially too hot for get togethers now. We will resume sometime in October.

Sorry I didn't post when I got home. My DSL was down, and only now came back up.
I had a great time, totally worth the drive. It was wonderful meeting new people.
My dive home was perfect, fast and uneventful. I pulled in the garage a tad before 3:30 (and that was with a pit stop in Castaic).
Many thanks to the charming hosts. :)

My boys like them with white chocolate chips. Because they are a drop cookie, more like a TollHouse than a typical peanut butter, any sort of chip would work.
