This ranks fairly high on the list of things I would never foresee myself asking, but can anyone recommend a good Jazz spot in the LA area?

The Moonie clan is coming to town the weekend of the 22nd. Moonie Junior and his Uncle Moonie are big Jazz fans and would like to partake of the local scene while in town. (Note: Moonie Jr. is 16).

We will be staying in/around Pasadena so the closer to there the better.

Any recommendations?

Catalina (http://catalinajazzclub.com/) is probably the most consistant Jazz club in LA, but there are others.

Try this link for other sources. (http://www.lajazz.com/index.cfm)

Also, check out what thw Hollywood Bowl is doing during your stay.

And, when are we going to see you?

A little further afield, but there's Steamer's in Fullerton.

Just outside of Los Angeles about 1900 miles, or so, in New Orleans there is the Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro.

Thanks for the link.

We are in town for the Moonie Clan Reunion so it does not look like there will be much time to enjoy ourselves.

So far we have a pre-college visit for Moonie Jr. to Loyola Marymount Friday morning, a Dodgers game Friday evening, A trip to the Pantry (http://www.pantrycafe.com/) Sunday early AM, Perhaps some time at the Commerce Casino and a Jazz concert Sunday night at either at the Bowl or a place like Catalina. Monday we have another college visit to USC. Perhaps a dinner meet on Monday could work if anyone is up for it.

FML.

So it turns out Cousin Moonie only has one extra ticket to the Jazz concert. Ahh says I, "No, Problem just take Moonie Junior". After all he is the big Jazz fan not I.

Well, well , well.... Turns out the concert is a special event at The Mansion.

Yes. THAT mansion. Hef's Mansion. The Playboy Mansion.

And I just turned down a visit so that my 16 Year old could go.

You're a good father.

Milk it for all the yardwork you can.

So - everytime I've looked at this thread title and read it as "I need some Jizz" I haven't been that far off.

I would guess if your sixteen year-old can go, it's probably not worth going.

The family is going. Me and mine, that's up for debate.

Although I do enjoy a good game of poker.
