-and I am not a happy camper.

His whole department-plus some other guys too.

STRESS time-

Gutting excess spending. Applying for unemployment. Looking for other positions in the company. Looking for other jobs elsewhere. My sons are also looking for work so they can help pay for their own stuff. I will also be looking for a second job.

Turns out his boss knew it might be coming-but did not tell him. We could have been prepared-made some changes ahead of time. Now we are scrambling. Thankfully his final paycheck will get us through the month. With hard work we will be prepared to go from there-

Sigh-:(

Geeze, Neph- my stomach just churns thinking of how stressed you must be. I'll be sending my best vibes (thoughts, prayers, and everything else!) your way. I've been there, and I know I could be there again in a heartbeat.

Here-.

(That's a straight shot of Patron- I don't usually serve it with an umbrella, though).

These are tough times for many. At my company there were lay offs as well. My mom was let go, and my son almost was. I've been working hard to put away 3 months income and looking for other work possabilities just in case.

Good wishes and quick work for all of you!

That sucks.

See if you can apply for UI online. Much easier than dealing with the phone or going to the office.

Someone told us he can't apply for unemployment for a week-he will call and check tomorrow.

The horrible thing-we have no savings.

Hoping and praying that tomorrow will bring good news of another position in the same company.

Here (http://www.coworkforce.com/uiic/) is the online application link.

If you scroll almost to the bottom of the page it says

Waiting Week

The first week you are eligible for UI benefits is an unpaid waiting week. You must meet all of the weekly eligibility requirements during this week to be credited for an unpaid waiting week. You must request payment and report your eligibility by calling the Colorado Unemployment Benefits Line (CUBLine) or visiting CUBLine Online on time to receive credit for your waiting week.

I was laid off on a Wednesday and had to wait until Friday to file. That week didn't count because I was paid for it. The following week was my "waiting week" and the week after I started receiving benefits. I had one unpaid week, which was ok because of where it fell in the paycheck calendar. I also was paid out for my vacation time and 2 weeks severance.

R called HR today and spoke to the manager. There are 2 other jobs open and potentially available to him.

The HR guy is going to contact the manager of those jobs-and my husband has worked with him for the last 3 years and feels he has a good relationship with him-so he is feeling pretty positive about it all right now.

The amazing thing is both jobs pay better-and have a better schedule. What a blessing this may turn out to be-

Should know more this week-keep your fingers crossed and pray that this comes through.

Nephy, while I hope that these pan out I strongly suggest he apply for UI today. It's much easier to stop it than start it, and his one week waiting period will start sooner than later.

Wow - hope that works out. That would be amazing!

Good luck with the new position for Ria....some things are for the best, here's hoping he gets the job and things start looking up for you and your family.

We had some scary times last year, but it all worked out for the best for us.

What BtD said.

Also, I hope he does get that better paying job, how cool would that be?

He has been recalled.

New position, new manager- still finding out schedule and pay rate.

May be a couple $'s less- but it also may have a commission portion. So hopefully it will be comparable-

Also hope he can have a Mon-Fri schedule-but right now I don't care about anything except him being employed.

We had plans this weekend-plans he had scheduled for-but he may have to work this weekend now-but again- I will take an employed Ria over an unemployed one any day.

Whew!!!! I'm glad he was brought back, but the potential income drop is kind of sucky- hopefully he'll get the commission portion as well.

The job with Pepsi has become untenable- big pay cut and they are not bumping him up as soon as they said they would-they told him there were no driving jobs and then Sunday we saw the other guy in his dept- who also got laid off- driving.

So now I am 99.9% sure R will be taking an OTR job. Very little left to confirm-they are confirming his employment with Pepsi and making travel arrangements. He should be leaving around Labor Day for "training"-then starts the following Friday (the 11th) ideally.

His schedule would be about 3-4 weeks gone, 3-4 days home. Not sure what vacation time would be-

-and we thought he was at work alot now?

Heh-

Change is hard- any kind of change. This is a big change-

Actually it's not.
