Awesome!

We're above Detroit in the standings! ;)

Um... the team that will win the Cup will be any team the Hawks play on their way. Hossa is cursed!

Being ahead of Detroit (and the Kings) is all that matters.

In the Pacific Division the Kings are in first, the Ducks are in fifth. There is something wrong with that picture.

Well we all know how my season is going. I'm ok with not making the playoffs, though I'd rather see Selanne and Scotty go out better than this.

The Western Conference is so interesting this year. The Kings and Coyotes are making the playoffs for the first time in many years and the Coyotes are posed to take 1st in the Conference. Meanwhile Detroit is struggling to remain in 8th, while the Ducks and Dallas are going to start golfing in a few weeks.

Hey Moonie, your Caps are in first place.

Coyotes! Go Coyotes!

What city do they play in again?

In all seriousness, though, it makes me wonder if Gretzky just sucked as a coach. He wouldn't be the first superstar who did.

My son is in the same class at school with Gracie Doan, Shane Doan's kid, so it makes me happy for him. He's a really nice guy (been on a couple of school field trips with him).

Or did Bryz light a fire under their asses.

That's good to hear. I don't like him as a player but no nothing of him as a person. Hockey players are generally some of the nicest, most accessible professional athletes. Especially in an area like SoCal (or AZ) where there is a core group of fans who would recognize them but they can go to Disneyland, or to the grocery store without being mobbed.

Yeah, true....a lot of self motivated superstars like a Gretzky may not know how to motivate those who play less than their best or don't give it all everytime on the ice (or the court or the field or whatever).

Often the most talented people make the worst teachers/coaches. When it comes easily and naturally to you, you don't know how to explain it to someone for whom it's not easy.

The Capitals get the President's Trophy and the Kings made the playoffs. After tonight's CO win it's still possible but not likely for the Ducks to make it.

You are welcome to join the "Rock The Red" bandwagon for the post season.

My plan was to root for the Caps. But I have Ovcheckin (and Crosby). More precisely I hate the love affair the NHL has with them. They need towels to clean up after talking about them.

In the WC I'd like the 'Hawks to win. Hossa is chasing a Cup, so I don't think they will.

My cousin is a long-time Kings fan. He is so excited to be going to a playoff game, but he doesn't think they will get out of the first round, and Quick can't maintain this pace.

God dammit. I knew I should never have posted here. (http://www.wtop.com/?nid=295&sid=1935520)

Caps lost their first playoff game today. Still I'm not too worried. I expect it was just a case of overconfidence. They'll get their heads back in the game and sweep the rest of this series.

I'm quite happy that the Canucks, Avs and Coyotes have won their first games.

I'd love to see the Coyotes take down the Wings, but it's not very likely.

I doubt the Sharks have learned how to give Nabakov the Heimlich yet, and predict he'll choke in the 2nd round.

Umm, excuse me kind sirs. I don't mean to be pushy, and I know you have a lot on your mind right now but could you please, at your earliest convenience put a little thought into some fuc*ing offense? You're down two three goals to zip heading into in the 3rd.

EDITED: 4 to 1 loss. Seesch.

Thrilled the Kings are out and pissed the Sharks progressed.

Rooting Coyotes over Wings.

If the time comes, I'll be rooting Wings over Sharks.

Wow. All the local sports news folks are ripping on the Caps like sharks on a wounded tuna. O'vee has gone from media darling to scruffy looking nerf herder in just one game, calls are out for the coaches head on a platter, and the entire city is doomed to wallow in hopeless for all time (according to them).

And yet, life goes on. Go figure.

That's what happens when you're playing hockey after all the ice has melted. It is a violation of Allah's law and thusly does he strike at the heart of national power.

Poor Ovechkin. Or not. Imagine what will happen when the Penguins and the NHL darling Crosby get knocked out too.
