I want to go too!!! I can take the Mini up there, but it won't fit anything more than one other person and our stuff. How much does reserving the space cost?

innerSpaceman 04-13-2007 03:37 PM

Camping spaces cost next to nothing, but the space is limited. I don't know what the particular restrictions are in Sequioa/Kings Canyon ... but there's usually a 2-car per space limit, and there might even be a limit on how many spaces we can reserve.

Not sure. Not Afraid will let us know the low down.

Actually, I just looked at the poll, and the June 30-July 1 weekend is winning by a landslide. I take that back about June 23 ... because the entire point of the poll was to find a clear winner. Until recently, everything was tied tightly. For some reason, June-July got a slew of votes since then.

So ... The poll winner - absent any fervent objections - will be decided after this weekend. April 16, the votes will be tallied and the Secretary of Dynamic Activity Planning will be asked to make arrangements!

Yes! June 30th!!! The clear winner!!!! That's the ticket! Yup yup yup, not that previous weekend, no no no....

:)

Oh, and Yes Katiesue... Frontliner and I will be in town June 22-25th. (Did I mention the 25th is my birthday?)

No, we're looking at the following weekend.

Soooooo

Campgrounds in Dorst (reservable in Sequoia)) are $20 per night with a maximum of 6 people at each site. Most have restrictions for 2 cars and limited automobile space. The smallest parking space seems to be 24 feet (back in only) but some are larger.

I have a PDF of the campsite map and, in the best of all possible worlds, we would be able to get sites next to each other. But, we'll have to see when we actually get a number of people/cars/tents. That's actually the first bit of information we need to decide on after we nail down the date.

Put me down, pretty please!

Not Afraid 04-13-2007 07:51 PM

We also need to think about car pooling as much as possible. Those with large(r) vehicles should probably look to adding passengers who will chip in for gas. Of course, we bring so much **** with us, we need the entire car. ;)

innerSpaceman 04-13-2007 09:48 PM

Well, the date seems pretty darned nailed. I know I said we'd keep the poll open till Monday, and we will. But with Moonliner now confirmed for the June 24 weekend, and the June 30 weekend leading in the poll by 2-to-1, I think that it's clinched for June 30.

As for waiting for people to chime in with an "I'm In" ... I say to hell with that. Lemme run thru this thread real quick, count up the people who expressed interest ... and let's just reserve space for that plus 5.

katiesue 04-13-2007 09:51 PM

I'm in - just need to double check with the boss but it shouldn't be a problem. Happy to drive and or carpool/pay for gas with anyone.

Not Afraid 04-13-2007 09:51 PM

I need the number of cars - that's most important. ALSO........are we just doing Friday and Saturday nights? Are people going to make the 5 hour drive after work on Friday? How about days off? Take off Friday or Monday?
