I'm all for having one person be the accountant and everyone checks in with them before leaving, checking items off the bill as they go.

Oh, I agree completely, CP. They messed up majorly. You cannot just randomly assign people to different checks, precisely because you may split up people likely to pay jointly, such as - d'uh - married couples.

Ok, aside from the bill fiasco, how was dinner?

We only got there in time for dessert, and possibly the funniest fireworks show ever.

Dinner was delicious, and the Bananas Foster were divine.

...and the Acappella soundtrack to the fireworks was better than the real thing !! :D
