Have you ever witnessed something that is now a burned image in your brain and keeps replaying itself and you don't know how to push STOP?

Today at Tumbling practice, one of Kat's teammates "thought" her coach was going to spot her...her coach wasn't looking at her and didn't see her going...The little girl went ahead and performed her round-off backhandspring (which she doesn't know how to do) ....

and ended up breaking her arm...really bad. LOUD pop bad! Dangling down from her body bad! I saw the WHOLE thing bad!

I can't get it out of my head. I know kids break arms all the time...Bailey broke his just this fall...but her's was really bad.

Aggghhh....if I didn't have to be up at 3:45am, I'd seriously think about a nice dose of wine to blur it out a bit!

Kat, thankfully, didn't see it happen.

I'm currently drinking wine and baking for tomorrow's bake sale. Luckily, (in case the two aren't a good combination) I baked some brownies earlier today as well.

Baileykat! I *hate* having images like that in my head. I don't even like it when SportsCenter replays pro athlete's injuries. And sometimes I still remember the *sound* of my ACL tearing, in my knee, over 12 years ago....it was like a "popping." :shudder:

Thanks MD!

Hopefully you aren't adding wine to your brownies? ;)

I'm having Julia Childs images here...

"Some fwar tha browanies...schome fwar me!" :p

Actually, I just discovered, quite by accident, that drinking wine while baking is a good way to keep from "sampling." With the taste of wine in my mouth, I've had no desire to taste what I'm baking.

I used to bake a lot more than I do now.

I used to weigh a lot more than I do now.

Coincidence?

Nerd alert: the following post contains major comic geek activity. If you are at all offended by ridiculous amounts of geekiness, please skip this post. I'm sure there's something more interesting later in this thread.

Spent the entire afternoon and entirely too much money at APE - that's the Alternative Press Expo - here in San Francisco. I picked up a ton of cool comics, zines and books.

On the way there, I stopped at my friendly neighborhood art supply store and bought a little sketch book. I figured that in the spirit of the MousePod, I'd try to get as many cool artists as I could to do a sketch for me featuring a character with Mickey ears. Here's the final tally of who did what:

No ears (because I didn't ask them):
- Jhonen Vasquez
- James Sturm

No ears (because they didn't want to)
- Seth
- Adrian Tomine (he made fun of me for asking)

Mouse Ears (these folks are supercool)
- Christopher (of The Ghouly Boys)
- Omaha Perez
- Jaime Hernandez
- Gilbert Hernandez
- Mario Hernandez
- Melina Mena (she's new, and muy cool)
- Eric Knisley
- Daniel Clowes
- Lloyd Dangle
- Gris Grimly
- Ryan Claytor
- Louis Gonzales
- Silver (he's the guy that draws Kim Possible - he gave me a Naked Mole Rat with Mickey Ears!)

I have to remember to bring my sketchpad to the next show - it sucks that the San Diego show is the same weekend as DL's 50th...

Aaaargh, why not!?! I'd kill to see 'nny with ears! That'd be hillarious. Of course, you could probably forge a Happy Noodle Boy with ears and no one would know the difference.

I admit that I wussed out. Jhonen had the only ridiculously long line there, and the Slave Labor Graphics folks were admonishing us "two items only, no sketches" - I only had my hc JTHM book and when I got up to the front of the line, I kind of stuck my sketchbook in front of JV and said, "They told us no sketches, but would you sign my sketchbook anyway?" He laughed and said "Is that what they're saying?" and proceeded to draw a quick Happy Noodle Boy anyway. I didn't want to push my luck.

Jaime Hernandez, on the other hand, gave me a cool Hopey with a cigarette danglin' and Mickey ears, and Beto went really geeky and drew a caricature of Jack Kirby with giant round ears. I'll post a couple of them tonight.

The only reason I'd ever go to a comicon is to meet Jhonen. *sigh* I do love broody poets with violent tendencies.

Today, I SWEAR, I'm going to be good. So far, so good. ;)

So, I was just looking in the Who's Online sector, and I discovered a MSN Spider in my profile. Yuck!!!! (Looking around for shoe to smack spider with). Also listening to the incredible cacaphony a hungry brood of Zebra finches can make- will these little beasties never wean themselves? Geeesh. Even the cats are getting irritated.
