What rockslide in Curry Village???

There was a rock slide a decade or so ago that destroyed Happy Isles one year after I finally visited it after passing it by on a great hike about a dozen times, just because it was near the start. It turned out to be a thoroughly charming place, and then it was lost to the Wroth of God.


I'm very concerned about Curry Village now. Not nearly as charming, but I've a lot of history there.

I am sorry to have left after this post, I forget how many Yosemite Swankers there are.

Well. I haven't heard about it on the news, myself, looked, but next weekend when y'all are camping, we booked a cabin in Curry Village. I had been searching every freakin' day to upgrade our one night without a bath and yesterday was successful.

Today I received a call from the Yosemite Concessions stating that due to a rockslide in Curry Village that those cabins were no longer available!! And, she said they were going down the list of names {so, more than just our one cabin, which actually is that four in one unit? I am not sure...}. Yikes and more freakin' yikes! This is just why I quit staying there. Last time we stayed there {still visit to eat, shop, stroll about} there was a small rock slide and I said no more.

Well. On top of that they put us in rooms without a bathroom!! I asked if the Awahnee was offering rooms at a reduced rate...sorry, but no ma'am. :rolleyes:

So, all of that talk about yummy food only made me hungry. I am still searching for other lodging. If the Awahnee wasn't over $400 I'd book it.

I will keep searching for news and this reminds me they were supposed to send me an updated confirmation.

iSm, I also love Curry Village although I don't want to stay there. This is where we came with the kids for years, the same cabin each time. That rockslide incident made me start booking at the Lodge but nothing is available.

Wah.

Great, now I'm craving curry.

Why am I hearing the word 'curry' sung to the Spam song?

That's what you get for not wearing red longjohns in the mountains.

That comment and the rockslide issue remind me of how I almost died laughing when I was talking to my niece about the man who cut off his arm to save his life...I elaborated that he'd been decapitated. Funny to me of course, not to my niece.

I always wonder who was standing behind us...the man behind us chuckled and then stiffled himself.

We were in line for ice cream...anyone wanna fess up?
