A few years ago Lani and I did a 1-month road trip. I shaved mine the day before we left and then didn't shave the entire vacation so nobody actually saw me without it.

Takes some getting used to.

I, too, lost my bid for the Rat movie, as the birthday boy insisted on Transformers. (sigh).

Goddamn it, I really like Smodcast.

If not for the banter, for trying to figure out what song that is in the background.

In the past 13 years, this is the second time I've shaved it, the first being 5 years ago, almost exactly. The last time, it couldn't grow back fast enough. I looked like an adolescent and the lack of beard highlighted the extra face fat I was carrying.

This time...I might keep it off for a while.

Went to Disneyland tonight. The parking CM did a double-take while checking my AP. I put my hand over my mouth, "Does this help?" What felt the weirdest to me was the realization that no one who looked at me knew that anything was amiss.

Last time I shaved my goatee off was three years ago. Both my daughters cried. Literally.

I've always been a fan of radical haircuts (including facial hair - for guys).

The change can be a liberating experience. Leave it off for a while - until it feels normal, at least. Then... ZZ Top.

As for the fashion evolution, these photos are from January 2004 and looking through them I see that I still regularly wear every piece of external clothing I wore on that trip.
