Loved the films. I'm kinda bummed we didn't see a little blonde girl on the way home. I had the whole scream-swerve-crash choreographed in my head.

I'm glad we could finally make it to a second one of these. Where else can we see these films?

I was so happy we had another successful movie night. If my calendar is right, the next one will fall on the night before the Oscars, so Javier Bardem in Perdita Durango seems like an obvious choice. And since there seem to be so many Isabella Rossellini fans in the crowd, we might have a late night showing of Wild At Heart, where she plays Perdita.

...and for those of you reading the thread who missed the night, we watched Nicolas Roeg's Don't Look Now and Fellini's Toby Dammit.

And as much as everyone enjoyed Don't Look Now, I have to say Toby Dammit was my favorite of the evening - the distilled essence of Fellini, what a short - Nino Rota score, over the top fashion and paparazzi, the devil as a little girl, and decapitation. the film was made for me - I'm glad our paths finally crossed.

Thanks, y'all!
:)

And, can I just add:

2009 remake of Don't Look Now
Nooooooooooooo!
Kiefer and Robin Wright Penn?
Spoiler:
and Zelda Rubenstein?

I am a bit slow today and I thought Kiefer and Robin were "in" and I thought it was odd that someone mentioned that RWP looks like JC (then I realised Keifer is Donald's son). Yeah, I'm a bit tired. (So, is RWP going to just be RW now that a divorce in in process?)

So, I got to sleep at 3 am then woke up at 4:30 by someone screaming. Not sure if it was outide or if is was in my head (and not sure if red was involved).

LOVED the films. I'd watch 8 1/2 tonight if I didn't think I'd fall asleep (again).

Perdita Durango was the preview that caused the most excitement to me, so I'm up for seeing it.

mousepod 02-18-2008 02:28 PM

Just a bump to remind everyone that this Saturday (Feb 23), we'll be featuring the two faces of Perdita Durango.

I have a German DVD of Alex de la Iglesia's Perdita Durango, which is the only anamorphic widescreen version of the uncut movie (the American version is edited and isn't even anamorphic). The film stars Rosie Perez as the title character alongside Javier Bardem as Romeo, her psychotic lover.
We'll start watching it at about 7pm.

At 9:30, we'll watch David Lynch's Wild At Heart. While this movie follows a different pair of star-crossed lovers (Sailor and Lula, as played by Nic Cage and Laura Dern, respectively), it also features an appearance by Perdita Durango, here played by Isabella Rossellini.

Both of these movies contain pretty intense sex and violence, so if either of those makes you squeamish, this might not be the double feature for you.

Show up around 6ish. There will (as always) be fun video surprises, as well as interesting beverages. See you there!

Chris and I will be there.

Gemini Cricket 02-18-2008 09:22 PM

I will be there.

I'm a wuss, but I loved Wild at Heart. It's David Lynch!

innerSpaceman 02-18-2008 10:08 PM

I'm coming.

(Oh wait, perhaps that's not the appropriate way to RSVP for a sex and violence double feature)
