In the midst of a snowstorm. I hear it's in the mid 70's at home.

Today....the usual slow, mind-numbing Monday morning...then home for lunch and to post incessantly through the evening.....and then missing my sweetie as he flies to San Fran for a night. :( Am I the only crazy one who thinks it's odd to refer to a loved one as "baby" but "babe" seems perfectly ok? |
So, after getting home way too late after drinking way too much for religious reasons, I'm now at work, preparing to fly to San Francisco for one night. Flight's at 6, conference crap all day tomorrow, then fly back at 8 tomorrow night. AND I'm going to be in San Francisco during Passover....yes, being surrounded by the best sourdough bread in the world and not being able to eat any of it is a special kind of torture.
But it's not all bad. Turns out my company is cool (this is one of many reasons it's cool) and if you've got an after work flight, they let you go home at 2 to get ready. So that's nice. And I'm working on convincing my partner in crime that's going with me to hit up this place for dinner, which is walking disatance from our hotel. That'd make it worth it. |
What I will do today: Laundry, water plants, call my Dr., study for RE exam, schedule catsitters, clean, make evil dentist appointment.
What I want to do today: Read new books by contemporary Japanese authors, plan Tokyo to do, think about packing list some more, contemplate shoes. |
Finished stupid final writing assignment last night and stayed up way late to finish editing and ship it off. Today is my day to get called on on contracts and I need to review the material that I don't recall ever having read before. Still waiting for word on which cruise line/rooms my uncle booked for our August trip.

So, we went to the Science center to check out BodyWorlds, and it turns out they had a special, where you could get into the Center, see BodyWorlds, and also go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. (Only about $30 per person). We went to downtown Cleveland, which is weirdly industrial looking, but has some cool architecture, and parked down by the Lake Erie waterfront. After checking out the museum, we did the Science Center and BodyWorlds, which was not at all as gross as I had imagined it might be. (Tori loved it). Then, we went to the Hard Rock Cafe and pigged out.
Great day, and Cleveland really does rock. |
You know, I've never been to Cleveland. My Dad was from Ohio, Geneva on the Lake, just East of Cleveland. I was conceived and almost born in North Canton, OH. I've been back there once, but I always have felt blessed that I got out with just 3 months to spare making me the first native Californian in my family. Apparently I still have cousins there, but I don't know them from Adam.
I'm glad you're having fun! It sounds like an adventure. |

Actually, we shared dinner at the restaurant. Right across from Atlanta's oldest cemetary Oakland Cemetary) which I visited the next day and saw the grave of Margaret Mitchell and lots of other dead people. |
So...that was an interesting trip.
I did manage to get to that Jazz bar. Gotta love it, just a short walk from the hotel, no cover charge, just walked in, listened to the tail end of the band's set, and had a drink. Yay. The work stuff was good, met the people I needed to meet, stayed awake through most of the presentations. The Moscone Center in SF is incredible. And the setup in the main hall for the keynotes was insane...about 300 feet of 20 foot+ tall plasma screens and LED grids. Full stadium lighting and sound system. A little over the top for this show, but damned cool none the less. One freaky moment in one of the smaller session when a presenter stopped mid sentence, wobbled, then collapsed, falling off the little 2 foot stage. Most likely he was just exhausted/stressed from the travel and such, nothing serious, but scary to witness. |
OK, this is getting silly. Another LoTer comes to my fair city and denies me the opportunity to buy them a cocktail... Glad you enjoyed Moscone, GD.
As for me... I finally took a break in my ridiculous job to catch up here and finally get the new MousePod up. And, we took my mom-in-law and her boyfriend to a Giants game and they actually won. Soooo... yay. |
