Belive me, it killed me to not be able to see ANY of the people I know in the area. But I landed at 7:30PM on Monday, had dinner with colleagues, went to bed, spent all Tuesday at the conference schmoozing until 6PM, then had to get into a cab to catch an 8:30 flight out. The half hour at the jazz bistro at 9:30 at night was the only down time I had.

Cleveland Update:

Went to the zoo yesterday, and had a great time. Today, it was a two hour drive on the Ohio turnpike to African Safari wildlife park, where we got to drive through and feed such famous savannah creatures as the Northern elk, buffalo and, of course, the llama.

Actually, it was fun- the elk followed our rig all over the place, and we even named one of them, #49- Joe. Got some great pics of Joe stealing Eric's feed bucket. We did see some zebra's and camels, but they were not out in the open. After the 'safari' we went to Johnson's Island, which is located on Lake Erie, and used to house confederate POW's. We could see Cedar Point from there- looks like a great park, but it's not open until May 8th.:(

Hey, Wendy! Sounds like you're on a busy schedule and having a wonderful time. I'm enjoying your updates. :) Too bad about Cedar Point. But you did get to the zoo, I've been there on many a visit. Did the freak snow storm pass through? How do you like that "lake effect"?

Lol- the storm hit the day we arrived. By Sunday, we had six inches of snow, but it had all melted by Monday afternoon. Downtown Cleveland didn't get any snow, which is really weird, as everywhere else was inundated. I was very impressed by the zoo- very cool place, and they even have an area where you can 'camp' overnight! (We may do that on another visit).

Successful shoe shopping today. :) I took NA's advice and went to Nordstrom but nothing there was the combination of comfortable and skirt-compatible I was looking for. Then I remembered my old standby, the Easy Spirit store, and I found a couple of pairs that will do nicely. I still need something in brown or tan so I'll have to check out South Coast Plaza when I go back to work next week. But at least I can retire the black Mary Janes that look comfortable but aren't.

It's always fun when you can see the cigarettes.
