Lizzibith- did you point out the fact that you did the extra work on your own time? What a crappy, snotty thing for her to do. She's probably feeling insecure about her future and taking it out on you, which is absolute bs. I predict karma will intervene (if it isn't already) and you will wind up with your dream job.

MP- same for you. I think this move is meant to be.

Thanks...I'm also sitting here burning CDs on my home PC for her on my own time since they don't let us do that at work. And yes, I'm also wallowing in self-pity!

Yes, you're right: she's going through her own sh!t, but she has a six-figure savings back-up, and mine is three-figures...so I'm a tad resentful! What I hate most is that I need building-up right now, not tearing-down. Without confidence job-hunting is really miserable.

Yesterday, I had to write step-by-step intstructions for (and I kid you not): 1)how to download email attachments, 2) how to rename a file, and 3) how to cut and paste text. It really shows how much they value me and my position.

As far as the job hunt goes... I'm also in the same boat. While H just got a job offer that's good enough to warrant our move down there, this is the first time in a long time that I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to be doing next. I know I only need one job - but the suspense is killing me...

(Did I mention how proud I am of Heather?)

Congrats to H, but I'm so sorry MP! Yeah, I was invited to apply for my current position with a huge pay cut. What? The world is just nuts! This is how we are rewarded...

OMG! That's unbelievable! ... but believable only in the crazy fact that my brother, who has been working in the IT department of a college for about two years, finally got hired fulltime there--but with a pay cut. So, his reward for "officially" getting a fulltime position is to take a $500 pay cut per month for the same job!

lizziebith: Yes, the world is nuts, unfortunately, but you're not the only one going through something like this ... if that helps make you feel just a little better, I hope. :)

It's funny how the world works.... Painfully funny.

Still going to apply, because I'm desperate.

It's been averaging 100 degrees up here, but tonight a storm blew in and it feels wonderful! Rain, lightening, the works. We've had a key part of our A/C on order since the 6th, and it's been a frikken nightmare. Tonight is the first time in weeks I've felt good. The asshole who is supposed to fix our A/C says the part might be in by Friday- if he's got good karma it will be, because I will be at work that day. I really hate mechanics, of any kind.

Work sucks. Economy sucks. Housing sucks. Today is hot but not as bad as yours has been, WB. But then again, I don't have a countdown to a cruise!! Yeah for you!

Oh, and training your replacement who is incompetent sucks.

Today I'm experiencing the oddest sense of overall well-being and contentment. I did some self diagnosis using my other symptoms (alertness, ability to concentrate on the task at hand, a surplus of energy). It seems I'm suffering from a condition known as "Well Rested Syndrome."

I'm scared.

My hound seems to have a horrible foxtail (burrowing grass seed) lodged in his jowl somewhere. So we need to have him on antibiotics to get the swelling down so we can find the darned thing, then surgically remove it. In the meantime he's on a bland diet of turkey and rice to keep his tummy happy (he has a couple of overlapping problems) and his face is hugely horribly swollen.

At least he's eating, which is good. He didn't eat for two days straight. And he's not moaning anymore, which is good.
