OK - what is wrong today?!?! First, I get my response to my citation about a month too late. To add to it, they totally lied on it, saying that there was a sign up saying that parking permits were required in the summer. There was no such sign, and lot of people were confused. They put it up the week after I got my ticket and wrote them a hand-written explanation on the paperwork. I then write a letter so it can go up for review, since it was initially denied, and fully explain my position, that there was no sign at the time, and that it really should be a part of the registration process, as parking permits are for every other semester. I should have gotten a response in a week, but instead got one almost a month later - still denied. $25 isn't really worrying me - it's that they're continuing to say that the sign was up (no, it was not - I drove around the structure twice the day I got the ticket!), and make no mention of changing any part of the registration to streamline the parking permit process. GAH! Plus - they're lying!
Then, this guy calls for my grandma's "living trust." Now, I don't remember this particular name before, and I only vaguely remember the lawyer's name. I really can't describe his voice, except that it was the kind that would lull the best of us to sleep, and it was slow to the point of making me upset. He asks for my grandma, I say she's not here. He asks who I am, I tell him it's none of his concern and that I can take a message. After a long pause of him saying nothing, I hang up. He calls back immediately, and after almost a dozen exchanged "heellloooos" he asks for my grandma, and again, I say she's not here. We go through the whole first thing together. I asked to take a message since I'm working right now and didn't have time to talk, and asked whether this was about an existing account my grandma had. He waltzed around answering anything including giving me his name and number, then proceeded to ask questions about Huntington Beach (where I live.) I explain that I don't have this kind of time to waste and that "grandma would call you back."
Luckily, we have caller ID, and I asked my grandma if the name Marquis sounded familiar. Not her lawyer's group. Grr... WTF?
Probably isn't helping me that we've had a number of solicitors calling. Including the number 4-207-467-8710. Any idea what the 4 in front of it's all about?
