And in my opinion, also Mexican food if I am unable to have a margatia, or safe water.

I can’t stand aspartame (makes everything taste like aspirin), so Diet Coke wasn’t an option. I tried going cold turkey, and just drink lots of water; but it never satisfied me. I craved Coke horribly. Then I started drinking flavored Arrowhead sparkling water. That did the trick! I discovered that it was the carbonation I craved! I drink 2-3 big bottles of it every day. Now, when I’m at work, I’ll buy a can of Coke from the vending machine in the morning and only take a couple of sips. The rest stays on my desk, untouched, for the rest of the day. I’ll also sometimes order a Coke to drink when out at a restaurant. That’s it, I never drink Coke at home.

I think what bothered me the most was this self-professed desire to get healthy, and all this talk of working out, eating right, vitamins, and what's good for you when you get older, yada yada that she has been talking about this last week and a half. She talks about it every day. Then blam-O... four unrepentant Cokes to start the day with. I can see one... maybe two... but four!

I'm no innocent, but I don't go around telling people how interested I am in my health and being healthy while doing something as silly as pounding four Cokes - which I've found out are 155 calories. She'd (theoretically) lose close to a pound a week by just cutting out three of those cans.

Thinking about this has made me re-aware of my own dietary habits. I need to get back to thinking about portion control again. Being so stressed with school, work and finances, married with the fact that for my schoolwork and actual work I'm sitting so much more than I used to, hasn't done my figure well. Lucky for me I'm a fan of the gym...

Are you sure she meant regular Coke and not one of the other diet versions? I don't ever drink regular Coke but generally Coke Zero or Diet if that is all that is there but I still just say "Coke"

BE~ My son cut out Coke which led to cutting back on chips/Coke, fast food {as I am eating popcorn...closing bag now...} and he lost about 80lbs. So, yes, you are right about the losing weight. It took less than a year, but close to it maybe.

He just walked in for me to ask...he was eating cookies and cream ice cream out of the container.

I need to get back to eating well to be a good example, eh?

What's wrong with eating ice cream out of the container?!?! :p

I need to get back on track before hockey season starts. At work I'm usually pretty good and only go out to eat once a week. The last 2 weeks were bad.

The late night week nights and 3am Norm's trips have really slowed down and that has helped a bit. But it's so hard to motivate myself during the week when I know I am going to eat so poorly on the weekends. And these upcomming weekends consist of the Fair, Disney, late nights and Vegas. I should eat better during the week to make up for the weekends.

LOL Nothing really. He walked up and showed me the almost empty container and said 'We need more'. Need more? LOL No, you need more milk, more gas, etc. What have I done to him?

But, maybe he does 'need' more.

Ooo! You've been going to the fair? Were you there last night? Was QOTSA there? I wanted to see them. I think Chris Cornell is going to be there but I am probably wrong. LOL flip flop goes the brain....

I drink lots of diet sodas. It just depends on my mood.

Root Beer with a spicy Mexican dinner (not the swill from some chain, but authentic Mexican food) is the only way to go!!! Great, now I am back to craving La Colonia...bad neighborhood, great food.

He's already doing better than me!

I used to drink Turbo Jolt for breakfast (32 oz. bottle of Jolt Cola with a double shot of espresso)

Then, when I come back, I put two more in while I take a shower and drink them before I start off with my day."

No offense to anyone here, but she's not light. She's talked about a desire to be healthier. And yet... isn't addressing the problem with slamming down 4 in the morning, every morning - not to mention any others she might drink throughout the day.

At least cutting back could help.

Plus, what all that cola does to teeth. Yikes! I've seen it!

She'd be cutting - what - 800 calories out of her day without the Coca-cola? At the end of the week, thats 5,600 calories... She'd be a lot healthier.

Not that I have a problem with drinking cola here and there, and I'm certainly no angel, but... yikes.

Tell her you have a friend whose stomach is being destroyed by Coca-Cola (my preciousssss) and that that friend had to stop drinking Coke entirely for a couple months after the stomach problem landed her in the ER, and in that time, lost like 10 or 15 pounds.

(You can leave out the part about being terrified to eat and avoiding anything greasy. Coke is delicious but bad bad stuff on the ol' tum tum.)
