Snowflake, can we get more details about your avatar (and comment)?

Sadly, it was not me who sold the poster. Heritage Auctions in Texas (www.ha.com) had the poster in their most recent sale, with buyers premium it hammered at just over 38k. The estimate was a conservative 6-8k.

Poster prices have been going higher and higher and while I have 3 Valentino related posters, I can't imagine any of the 3 I own would come even remotely close to what The Eagle sold for. If they were to garner close to that, heck, I might be able to buy a condo with a good down payment! ;)

I'll change my comment, though, it's was not me who sold. I was not even in the run for the bidding. A friend of mine in Baltimore (who collects Douglas Fairbanks and has many beautiful posters) placed a bid of 6k on it. Needless to say, she didn't come close to getting it.

I'm sure you will hold on to them, and you never know how much they will be worth someday. They aren't making them anymore.

I am a strong believer that laughter is the best medicine. We have both approached this situation with pure openness - whatever happens, happens. We'll deal with it as it comes. Susan actually told me the news with glee that she was even having the surgery - she was very much looking forward to not having the bad cramps each month.

And we actually did a (Wiccan) ritual blessing for her the night before the surgery.

OKay, laughed out loud at these...

Thanks for posting those. I meant to when I saw them.

I'm sure they'd have been funnier if I'd ever bothered to read it...

It's an account of Henry David Thoreau's time spent living in a cabin at Walden Pond (property owned by Ralph Wald Emerson) and his love for nature and his critique of technology.

It's been such an odd day. There was a drug-deal-gone-bad shooting in a neighborhood I was going to visit, it's hotter than HELL (my car said 94, Yahoo said 86- I believe my car), my face has started twitching again, I learned a friend is getting a divorce, I narrowly missed gettingin a car accident, and I have a general bad feeling about the day in general - like waiting for the other shoe to drop. I think I'm going to stay home for the rest of the day and pretend I am in a cocoon.

Ghoulish Delight 07-26-2007 04:27 PM

The other shoe? That already sounds like plenty of shoes to me, just how many feet do you have?

Go pile yourself with some cats and wake up tomorrow.
