Sadly, it was not me who sold the poster. Heritage Auctions in Texas ( www.ha.com) had the poster in their most recent sale, with buyers premium it hammered at just over 38k. The estimate was a conservative 6-8k.
Poster prices have been going higher and higher and while I have 3 Valentino related posters, I can't imagine any of the 3 I own would come even remotely close to what The Eagle sold for. If they were to garner close to that, heck, I might be able to buy a condo with a good down payment! ;)
I'll change my comment, though, it's was not me who sold. I was not even in the run for the bidding. A friend of mine in Baltimore (who collects Douglas Fairbanks and has many beautiful posters) placed a bid of 6k on it. Needless to say, she didn't come close to getting it.
