Haha!! I've never dipped! :D I don't think I ever could. I'm the worst kind of reformed ex-smoker, too. You know, the coughing and dramatic hand waving when smoke floats my way. So, I'd like to think I'm still kissable! ;)

Speaking of things that don't exist anymore, do Capri ciggies still exist? I used to smoke those! All long and skinny like.

It's nice how my contributions to this Thread have mostly been hobo wines & tobacco. AllyOops! is just another word for class, baby. ;) :p

capris...yup. still around. one of the folks I used to go out to the curb to smoke with is still smoking them.

Pall Mall no filters? Those were nasty.

My friend Silke used to smoke Stuyvesant's because they were so gross no one would bum one off her. It would go like this-

Person - can I have one of your ciggarettes?
Silke - sure but they're Stuyvesant
Person- erm no thanks

I heard a great saying at the 4th of July party I was at:

"I have lots of class. It's just not high!"

At my most ambitious, I alternated between Camel non-filters, Lucky Strike and Chesterfield. Pall Mall was definitely the nastiest. On the other hand I also tried rolling my own with Drum. Too sweet.

Reminds me of a funny story. When I was a young and impressionable lad, I started smoking Lucky Strikes because I had an internship at a newspaper and Mel Gibson smoked them in The Year of Living Dangerously. A month later, when I found myself at a treatment center in the middle of the Arizona desert, my choice of brand came in handy. Every week, they would make a run to the local Circle K to pick up sundry goods. Since it was a center which focused on health and recovery, there were always a group of people who would buy "just one pack" of smokes with the idea that they were ready to quit. I'd get a carton of Luckies (L.S./M.F.T.!). Within two days, half of the smokers would be bumming cigarettes from the "smart" ones that bought cartons. The Marlboro Lights smokers were hit hardest by the bums. I almost never had to give up a cigarette...

Okay I need help from you clever folk. I tried googling them but found nothing: I used to smoke minty cigarettes that were NOT menthol, but kinda like Wintergreen LifeSavers. But I can't remember what they were called! For some reason Orbit gum keeps coming to mind, so it must have been a similar name. Anyway, when people would come to bum them off me, and I said what they were, I always enjoyed the hand-retraction action, and the look of revulsion on their faces!

Was it
?

The Nat Sherman store was near my apartment in NY. I knew girls who smoked Fantasias. Fancy!

lizziebith 07-19-2007 08:27 PM

Aw no, they were....less fancy. (Couldn't afford Shermans!)
