I used to play with ants and a magnifying glass.....although, I only did it in intense sunlight. :) Made a nice little "pop" noise, they did.

Down in our neck of the woods (South Orange county). It's at the corner of Avery and Marguerite, right by Saddleback college. :) Lunch is $7.50 (11-3 every day except Sunday). Dinner is $10.50 (5-9 everyday). Good stuff. Let us know if you want to plan an excursion sometime.

I seem to remember that torturing animals as a kid is one of the warning signs that one might become a serial killer. Considering that ants are relatively minor in comparison to say, a dog, you probably have nothing to worry about. Might explain the "republican" thing though.

Hmm...

Well, this was in the late 70s, and they were red ants.

Don't get me started on cats, though.

I feel like sh!t. Had the damn oral surgery yesterday and slept most of the day. I was doing okay today, then suddenly couldn't keep my eyes open, and two hours later I'm up and sick to my stomach. I haven't even taken the pain pills today, although I sense I'm going to be doing so in the near future. Gah. And I'm not allowed to brush my teeth so everything tastes like medicine.

Ick. Dental work sucks big time.

When I was a kid I fed the ants that came up the crack in the driveway. Not red ones, black ones. I gave them crumbs for a while, then got ambitious and brought them about two teaspoons worth of jam. It took them two days to eat (or gather, I guess) all of it, and then the ants disappeared. I kept checking on them and they were gone for a while....perhaps 10 days?....and then suddenly, there were lots and lots of them coming out of many different cracks. I wonder how many ant babies I was responsible for. Thousands? Hundreds of thousands?

At least those ants never bothered us. Perhaps I should have bought an ant farm.

I never killed bugs for fun, except the really big scary shiny buzzing flying beetles. And that was self-defense - enjoyable self-defense, but self-defense nonetheless. :D

So ... What do you have against cats?

(C'mon, take the bait. Not Afraid is in another country. She'll never see this ;) )

Psst...For the record, I might have blown up a few anthills with firecrackers when I was a kid. Don't let scaeagles know though.
