NY steaks, baked potatoes w/sour cream & chives, and salad. Followed by chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream. Dinner at the in-laws' is gooooood.

I'm going to make another sourdough loaf today and if it turns out, we'll have spaghetti and meatballs.

I made a sourdough starter using pineapple juice and flour. It's a new method I read about online that's supposed to work a little more consistantly. Something about the juice being able to kill off the initial bad bacteria long enough for the sourdough bacteria to take hold. I've had it for 2 or 3 week and have yet to make a really great loaf. Oddly - the dough is great to work with. I got the forming part down so it doesn't blob out anymore. Maybe it just needs more salt. It's a fun experiment though - and bread flour in the bulk section at winco is pretty cheap.

After bbqing last night I took caramel marshmallows and toasted them on the coals. They made the best s'mores I have ever eaten!!

Have you had bacon s'mores?

No I have not had bacon s'mores but now am curious. Oooo wait I could have carmel bacon s'mores, or is that overkill?!

Last night, mussels and chorizo cooked in wine with an obscene amount of garlic, shallots fresh herbs and a nice hunk of baguette. It was heavenly.

As it happened to be bumped anyway in another thread, now seems like an excellent time to one again mention Mapel Bacon Plush Puffs. As well as many other fine flavors.
