Are they serioius? If I didn't see Newsweek at the top of the page, I'd swear this was an Onion article.

For a bit of counterpoint to Ms. Davis's rant, read this article.

Why don't we just lock ourselves inside our homes, duct tape our heads to our assholes, and declare victory in the War on Terror?

Because the duct tape hurts when I pull it off.

I would get to pull it off eventually, wouldn't I?

On the one hand, body language is far more telling than most methods of screening. On the other hand, there are lots of reasons for being nervous in an airport. *I'm* afraid in airports.

The note in the second article about detecting heartrate and blood pressure makes me exceedingly nervous. That's just invasive. I can't say why, logically, but ewww. Stay out of my circulatory system!

So I go to use my debit card at the ATM this morning and it says that it is an invalid card.

So I call customer service only to find out that they have canceled the card due to attempted fraudulent use on Wednesday. The girl on the phone couldn't tell me the reason (there were no details showing on her screen), but said that I would be receiving something in the mail. They have issued me a new debit card (which I live by).

While this is a temporary inconvenience, I do prefer having my money not stolen! Thank you BofA!

How scary! Glad they caught it!

I hope so, too.

I put my son in to an alternative school that goes from 7th-12th grade. I love it. It is smaller, great hours for a teens style.

But, it isn't what is people consider good for readying him for the real world. So, while I like that it is a much nicer environment for him {my older two went to the local middle schools/high school} he is being encouraged to attend a regular school. I don't like it. I am trying to discourage him.

The alternative to that is private school....I wonder what the new Catholic school runs?

Okay, he was not a happy camper when I told him that I was considering a religious school. He says they are only teaching myths. Do parochial schools all go by a religious, ugh, plan? {can't think of the word}.

And since the prospect of terrorism is invariably arousing . . .

We pay millions of dollars for this pseudo-science, yet nothing to secure our ports.
