I'm all for trying your own style but Swinton's dress really did look like she poked a hole in the bottom of a Glad garbage bag and was wearing it as a poncho.

^ Hahaha, perfectd description.

We may never know, but I don't know why people are assuming the host doesn't have that kind of clout. You need a big wake-up call, because he does. That's not to say the producer wasn't consulted or that it was even Jon's idea. But if he was the one who thought of it, he has the power to make it so.

And it was the show's best moment, so kudos to whomever arranged it. Plus her Thank You was teh awesome.

It was a great knock on the tacky musical cane-hook that belongs on the Gong Show and NOT the Academy Awards.

It was lots of fun at the Oscar swanking at LSPE's and Tom's. Total fun!
Thanks for having us.
:)

Mrs. Day Lewis' dress looked like some gadawful thing from QVC. Daniel on the other hand....hubba hubba

Kidman looked spectacular (those dia-monds, oh my) and I thought Helen Mirren looked incredible.

I was thrilled to bits for Cotilard and for Diablo Cody.

Viggo Mortensen and Colin Ferrell took home the scruffier-then-thou award.

I've been rooting for Tilda Swinton since I first saw her in Orlando (wow, how long ago was that?).

Enjoyed the show, enjoyed the friends I had over, but I think all-in-all, I would rather been at the swankier bash south! ;)

Diablo Cody looked like she forgot if she won that she'd be standing above everybody and therefore they'd be looking up her dress.

But in pre-show that dress looked fine. She didnt fidget with it once. It definatley was not a "sit for three hours, then get right up and speech" dress.

Well, in his defense he did immediatley try to steer that conversation. And you know, it is her uncle. I am sure she didnt want to see the questionable moments.

Agreed.

I think the only dress I really took notice of was the one worn by Alexandra Byrne who won for best costume design. It was rather bland. Somehow, given her calling, I was expecting something more interesting.

And speaking of Mrs's

Vanessa Paradis (Johnny Depp's squeeze) is freakin' gorgeous. She just needs to not smile.

I certainly missed the more fun party. Went to my friend's house, where I've watched the show for the last 15 or so years, people, food, etc. This year, what used to be fun, ended up being sitting in the back of a chatty room, watching a smallish tv with no sound system, listening to Rick wash dishes and run the garbage disposal during the show. Finally, I just begged off, claiming to be tired from my market, went home, and watched the second half of the show in hi-def sonic splendor.

Was anyone else counting the number of times someone slipped on the slick patch at the stage right microphone? I think it was 5.

I didn't see that many, but I didn't catch the whole show. But yeah, that was a problem.

We would have loved to have been at the swankiest party in Hollywood, but our weekend guests didn't leave until it was too late to make the trek.
