OK. Here's the Chihuahua story (cross post).

I rescued a Chihuahua today. He's at our house. He's older than the hills and he may be coming with us to PS because, I don't know what else to do with him. He's very quite and sedate. Either that or he's barely alive. Mrs. Pod named him Abe. Ms. BunBuns also arrive this evening for an extended stay while Mom and Dad are traveling Eastward. She's already adorable and has the cats quite in line. Outside, Bodi - the cat across the street came to visit and a opossum was hanging out in our tree by the porch. I think the universe is telling me I need to be Snow White for Halloween.

Basically, the Chi was abandoned several weeks ago. He's been living outside and eating cat food for 2 weeks or more. Knowing that Chi's aren't really dogs of the wild, I rescued him yesterday. I took him to the vet. He's a bit malnourished and very dirty but otherwise in good health - for a 16 year old chihuahua. I'm not sure what's going to happen next. He weighs 3.8 pounds. He slept in a crate last night with food and water and a comfy bed. He thinks he's found Nirvana. He's completely house trained and very calm and loving. But, he needs a bath in a big way.

Sooooo, another animal saga for me.

NA, you are an animal whisperer, absolutely!

Poor Abe, makes me think ill of the poeple who abandoned him.

I have a feeling Abe was owned by an elderly person in the area who died. Or, that's my back story. He's attracted to women, so I suspect it was an older woman who owned him. He may have been abandoned or put out when she either died or was put in a home. This is all speculation of course.

The vet took him in at the very last minute. This isn't even my normal vet but one who was open at 6:00 at night. He's about to get a bath. Hopefully he will survive.

He survived the bath. He's shivering a bit, but it's a bit cold today. Poor little guy. :(

I will cling to your backstory, it makes me feel better.

I expect a portrait of Abe once he's been prettified. I hope you survive the bath, too NA!

He's one lucky Chi and I am sure he knows it, too!
