Nick and I just got home to find a very injured Chicken. She is missing clumps of feathers and skin off of her back. I really don't think that Pooh did it. He is too protective of her. right now she is enclosed in her pen with fresh food & water. Tonight I will start dousing her back with antiseptic. David said that he would take her for the weekend if we needed him to watch her while we are at DLR.
I really can't think of Pooh doing it. When he came over while I was petting her and moving her into the pen he came over and she was not afraid of him. We have a LOT of feral cats in the neighborhood, along with predatory birds. It could have been another dog, but I didn't see how it could have gotten through the fence and back without a hole... I am just sick. I am hoping she will survive this, if not Nickolas is aware that we might have to have her put down. |
OOoohhh, poor Chicken. I hope she makes it.

I'm so sorry MG! It could have been feral cats or some other wild critter, it's hard to tell. The poor little thing. I hope she can recover, be careful of infections.
I know you two were looking forward to your weekend away at DLR. I hope you are still able to enjoy it and relax a little. I'm kind of shocked that David said he would take her, maybe he's not a total... I'm sending healing vibes for all of you, take care. |

It was a ****ing HAWK!!! I was sitting outside, smoking, before heading back to work and I saw a big bird land in the tree, it is a ****ing HAWK!! Nickolas was right, not our dog.
David said that he would take her, that way Nick can still see her, but she would be safe. |
Aw!!! I'm sorry, MG!
Sending lots of healing wishes to Chicken. Hopefully, she'll be ok soon. :( |

Poor Chicken! I hope she recovers and provides you with many more eggs for you to ponder.

A hawk in a residential area? Wow. Then again, we had an owl here taking out cats for a while.
May Chicken be safe and healthy, and pull through this. |
Poor chicken! Figures it would be a hawk. They can really be a menace to small pets.
