She is not happy to be confined to her pen. I sprayed her with some bactine, to help with pain and an antiseptic. Afterwards, she promptly ate all her grapes.
I will feel much better about everything if she makes it through the night. Nick and I will take her to David's thursday when I get off of work. I called out neighbor on my way back to work. She has 2 doxies (doggie, but I can't spell it out) and one is small enough to be bird chow. She said when she got home every dog in the area was sounding off and over the din she heard a screech. *sigh* On a side note, I am buying new batteries for my beaded light up necklace and I made my pin lanyard...it be Pirate themed it be. argh!!! All I have left is putting the stripes on Boy's jacket. |
Poor Chicken- she must have fought bravely to not get carried away when she was attacked.
I hope she will be ok- |
Yeah, I'm not sure I want to meet this chicken that can fight off a hawk, heheh. Good Chicken :)

DSL Extreme rocks!
I have internet back (without having to steal from my neighbors). I am happy :) Thank you for the recommendation Coaster Matt (and Jeff Levy) |
Poor chicken! I hope she will be ok! Wow!
I can't help but think of Foghorn Leghorn and Chickenhawk, the Warner Bros. cartoon. That Chicken Hawk tried everything, but that chicken was just too smart. Oh, he took his lumps once in a while, but he came out alright. I hope this same outcome will happen here. ![]() Good luck MG! |
Poor Chicken! I hope she recovers.
We're back from Palm Springs. Tired, relaxed and with a house (or zoo) full of critters. Bunnybuns (Munchkin) is doing great and is very happy. The cats are excited to see us and our latest addition is also doing MUCH better. His name is now Itty Bitty Abe Vigoda. We took him to PS with us and he was pampered to death, er, life by a bunch of LoTters. He's quite a good little puppy, but terribly malnourished. Besides his name, he has a Title - The Worlds Smallest Hedonist. So, his full name is Itty Bitty Abe Vigoda - the World's Smallest Hedonist - which is a name that is about twice as big as he is. He got his title because we were all eating bacon on Sunday morning (duh!) and he wobbled out and sat there looking longingly at us. We fed him small bits of bacon and he perked right up! He's still tiny and doesn't really like dog food (and keeps wondering where the bacon is). But, he seems to be on the road to a bit more health. (I hope). He doesn't bark, he's completely potty trained, and he's incredibly docile and sweet. The cats don't seem to mind him too much either. i think he's going to live out his remaining days or years in the Swank Hotel for Homeless Animals. There were many pictures taken of him this weekend. I'm sure some will appear soon. |
Awwww....!

Chicken survived the night. Pooh slept in the chair in front of her pen. He is still moping. I really think he played a big part in her survival.
We aren't going to take her to David's. Both Nick and my sister expressed concerns that the monster children won't leave her alone. I also don't want to add to her stress by moving her. She is perfectly safe in her pen, and it is somewhere she is comfortable being. I will probably end up picking up the garage so that she will eventually be able to have more room. I am also going to call some wildlife people today to find out if it was a red-tailed hawk or some sort of falcon and what can be done about it. It feels like for every step forward I get slammed 2 back. I am truly looking forward to having a hedonistic weekend. |
Yay for Chicken pulling through! I love your stories about her and Pooh. They're like little kids with feathers and fur. :)

So... I do wish I was still in the desert and could just jump in the pool right now and dry off in the desert sun. As it is, I'm glad I had the foresight to take this day off and am hoping that my phone won't ring and change that.
