It's a very exciting weekend at the Spumoni Gardens!

Tonight's show has been sold out since Wednesday. In the audience tonight are a couple of friends from high school, one of whom I haven't seen in thirty years, the other I just got together with last month for the first time since graduation. This all started with the reunion this year that I didn't go to. I did use the email list to say hi to everyone, and got some very nice replies - some from very unexpected sources. So Debi is in town this weekend with her sister, and is getting together with Cecily and coming to the show. It should be a lot of fun.

Saturday night's show had to be moved, because the restaurant we partner with sold the room. It was sold months ago, before we were sure we would still be running.

The show's originator is, in his other life, the telecommunications manager for the Rose Quarter. Among other things, this got us the Trailblazers as a sponser, allowing us to give NBA tickets away as a door prize. He's always wanted to do the show there, so tomorrow night we're moving to the one of the show rooms in the Memorial Coliseum. It's an exciting experiment, and if it works we may do more special events there.

This is going to be fun!!

Anyone wanna go to a USC football game tomorrow? I have an extra ticket because Alex is sacking out.

I'd love to go, but no wheels

I'd go, but I'm only slightly more a fan of USC than Ohio State.

(I'm from Michigan)

While I do love me some college ball and might be willing to trade some allegiance to go to a game - I actually have a few concrete plans this afternoon.

Someone should go if they've got the free time - college football doesn't get enough credit for being as fun, exciting and earnest as it truly is. Though I may not be a woman of Troy, being a part of that kind of crowd is almost magical...

So we were literally in the car on the way out, and he sacked out again because it was raining. Nevermind that it's not raining now, but it was raining in Long Beach as we drove through, ergo, *cough cough* he didn't want to go.

So now I'm watching the game on TV while two tickets sit useless in my purse.

Goonie, I'm sorry nobody could go with you. I know the games are more fun in person. TV is a really poor substitute.

The Scottish festival today had an inflatable pub.

I laughed. I took pictures. Don't have them downloaded yet.

Something about this album cover:

Got me thinking about straw boater hats and how freaking awesome they are.

Goon, I would have gone with you if we weren't moving. Sorry. :(

We're about to fall over. We got some stuff done today, but we're way behind, since my parents are in town for the weekend. Can't really gripe since they've taken us shopping for stuff for the new place, but we're already about a week behind schedule, so this week, we'll have to hustle to clear the way for the movers on Saturday. Oy!

Oh, and do any of you remember that large circle tree candle sconce that was hanging on the gazebo at our wedding ceremony? It's now found its home above the fireplace. And, now.... we have a full set of tools, screen, and log holder that match. :D Once that mantel is finished, it's gonna be gorgeous!

My mother joked that she was going to bring us a log and say, "Here's your housewarming present." Ba dum bum. (She's a funny lady, I swear.)

And, we made the discovery that the stove is nearly brand new, once I had cleaned it (it was beyond disgusting - I swear, how do people live like that?!?!), and popped on new drip pans. Once they swap the broken "nice" dishwasher, and I finish lining the ugly cabinet interiors, it's going to look awesome. (Even though, it's looking much nicer than our current kitchen already.)

Besides my parents, we've already had a few guests, including LibraryVixen, and my friend who coordinated the wedding. However, Goonie was the first to see it, and even brought a nice sprig of rosemary as a house blessing. We've placed it in the fireplace, and it will be used as the kindling for the first fire, thus carrying that blessing to the heavens. :)

Gah! Goonie!

I want to make a public apology...

I realized as I was on my way home tonight that I completely neglected to call you back after dinner. :( It would have been awesome to have met up with you.

As it stood, dinner took us longer than we thought and going into the park so late in the game didn't seem like a good use of my pass, so we just chilled out.

I just wanted to make sure I said I was sorry - and to let this be an example as to why these sorts of things aren't generally left up to me. I suck. Big time.

Apologies,

Erica
