*sigh* want a nap
I don't know what I want to "be" for Halloween- nothing inspires me Gonna be at Disneyland in 2 weeks......woo |
I have done my terrifying deed for the week.
Apparently it's SOP for people with an out-of-town interview to call other chambers in the area to see if they can get what is called a "leveraging" interview. Usually nothing comes of this, but everyone does it, and if you don't you're a goober. I guess the thinking is that perhaps Judge X might have initially said "oh, no point in interviewing the chick from Seattle since she's so far away", but upon hearing I'll be in the area already might say "oh, well let's give her a looksee." Since they get hundreds of applications for each position, anything to get yourself out of the vast pile and actually considered is supposed to be advantageous. I got 4 "already filled" (one very snotty - if it bugs you that much to have people call, maybe update your listing that says the position is open, m'kay?), 2 "we don't start reviewing until after the first of the year" (which is usually a lie, but whatever), 1 "I have no idea; I'll ask and call you back", and 2 "we'll pull your resume and take a look". So, I guess that's something. Probably nothing will come of it, but the important part is that I did it. Not many people know that I actually have a fairly substantial phone phobia. Obviously I am able to make phone calls, and do quite often, but the more intimidating the call, the harder it is for me and the more I panic. This was pretty damn high on the intimidation scale. But I made the calls. Yay me. |
good deal P. yeah, I know a lot of folks hate making calls of that nature. its akin to public speaking with some people I know.
way to face (and conquer) your fears :snap: |
Yay, Prudence!
:) |
Sounds like you did well, Pru! At least that ice is broken. :)
|
Yay Pru!!
I have the same thing with phones. And it's my job - ugh. |
Whee! My reward is that my lasted Olszewski miniatures just arrived. Added to the existing collection of Castle, Teacups, and Jungle Cruise are:
Train Station Central Plaza (I thought they were all out ages ago!) and 1974 Marquee Yay! Town Square is allegedly being re-released next month, so I'll have to get that and have both ends of Main Street. Still missing all the other Main Street buildings. If anyone happens to be going to Company D and is willing to assist me with that (with reimbursement, of course), they should let me know. There could be a pair of handknit socks in it for you. Or a squid hat. |

Good job P! |
One of the more annoying things about leaving work sick for my stomach problem is that once it's over, I feel fine. Then I feel guilty about not being at work.
