Man that was horrid. <-- The food not the coffee.

Um, I believe you are thinking of The Original Pantry (owned [in part I believe] by the former LA mayor, Richard Riordan). Although I think their coffee is $0.10, so maybe you are thinking of a different place

And the food ain't bad. Hence the perpetual line to get in.

One more thing on Katella Deli: they have a Monte Cristo. One of only two places outside of Disneyland that I have seen them (and the other one is closed).

Canter's is on Fairfax, just up the road from the Grove/Farmer's Market in Hollywood. They've been there for decades, serving many movie stars and other Hollywood folks. They have a really extensive menu, and awesome matzo ball soup.

Then my work here is done....

The Origional Pantry - Good. A favorite childhood memory in fact. Going to the pantry for breakfast at like 5:00am in the morning with my dad on the way into work with him....

Philippe The Original Restaurant - Thanks to a bit of googling, that's the evil one I was talking about.

The Ashley Tisdale thread, and having to say the HS musical kids were clean, reminded me... on NOT clean kids...

The La Jolla Playhouse has made Cry Baby into a musical.
I need to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oddly enough, is one of the other places Westminster Cafe. If memory serves me well, WC's was actually pretty good, for it being such a hole in the wall place. (WC is off Westminster, between Springdale and Edwards)

Hmm... I had always heard that Phillippe's was at least decent, though many say a bit over-hyped. There are one of the two places in LA that claim to have invented the French Dip Sandwich (though most people give the credit to Phillipe's).

OMG - the BEST Freaking Matzo Ball Soup in History.

I mean, Jazz Kitchen soups have NOTHING on it.

I can give no higher soup praise!
