I spent this afternoon removing a dead rat from underneath my fridge, then cleaning the kitchen floor.

At least I can breath in my apartment again!

Here's a tip for helping with the wonderful odor of dead rat-

Soak a rag in Listerine, and place it in the spot where said critter was found.

Helps get rid of the smell quite quickly.

The same thing works for rotting corpses. Of course you need more Listerine. Like the size you get a Costco.
