Apparently, we are going to Sutter's Mill Restaurant in Simi tonight. Part II of "Christmas with Family."

At least the bar looks well stocked. That's always an important feature at any family gathering.

And try the bacon wrapped shrimp! Yummy!

There's a Sutter's Mill in Simi? I only knew of the Van Nuys one...

The original was in Mission Hills (well, THE original restaurant was in Sylmar, but that was before my time). To the best of my knowledge, there was never a Sutter's Mill in in Van Nuys; see their history here.

Could be. I was a kid, didn't pay proper attention to where we drove.

We got some meat from Omaha Steaks - having the steaks tonight. Mmm Mmm Mmm. I'm also making some potatoes - I forget what they are called. You slice them almost all the way through into "not" slices down each potato. Then salt and pepper and drizzle with some melted butter. May also add a slice or three of garlic and some rosemary in the slices. And and and... I'm going to try and make roasted beets which I remember my grandma making as a kid and really liking. And salad. boring salad.

The beets were horrid! OMG - sooo bad. I washed and peeled them before cooking - however they tasted very "earthy" (aka: like dirt)

blech.

The steak was really good.

Oh - and the potatoes also sucked because my husband had to work late - leading to the potatoes sitting on the stove waiting for nearly an hour. The texture was hard/dense.

But like I said - the steak was good.
