Aren't traffic patterns interesting? If I leave my house at 7:30, I get to work at 8. If I leave my house at 7:40, I get to work at 8. |
I leave work at 5:00, it takes me 90 minutes to get home
I leave work at 7:00, it takes me 20 minutes to get home (and I am a lot less stressed) |
If I leave at 8:30am, I will get to work at 8:45am.
If I leave at 8:45am, I will get to work at 9:00pm. No change for me. Although I take side streets all the way to work. |
I get to work before or right at 8, I get a parking spot.
I get there 8:05, chances are good Im going for a hike and parking a block away. I hate that |
It's no mystery for my commute. Since I refuse to set tire on the 55 (which would require going quite a bit out of my way as is, never mind the traffic), I take surface streets and I pass 5 schools (1 college, 2 jr. highs, some small academy high school, and an elementary school). Once the clock hits 8, it's smooth sailing.

I'm trying to do homework but people keep wanting me to work!

I leave my house at 7am and get to work at 7am. I leave work at anywhere from 6pm to 9pm and get home at that same time. Gotta love working from home ;) |
I used to have the same issues as GD - Maddy's school started at 7:45. The high school I live by and have to go by (there is literally no way around it) starts at 7:30. So extra 15 or so mins to get through that mess. Maddy's drop off was also a mess. Then between there and my office I had to do by another elementry school that started at 8, a high school that started at 8:15 and yet another elementry school that started at 8:30. Took forever.
Luckily they opened up a new road so I can go a different way. Plus Maddy's school starts at 8:30 now and it's literally across the street so I don't have to deal with the drop off traffic. I sadly did this once. So bad. Let me see if I can describe the situation. There is one entrance to the parking/drop off. This is shared with the high school next door. Upon entering the parking lot you make a left (across the traffic trying to get out) to drop at the middle school. Then circle around to be stuck in the line of cars trying to get past the people turning left into the parking lot at the start. The people making the left have no stop sign so you totally back up the people trying to get out. Add to that entering the parking lot you can make a right when the light is green for the people going out - and since you have no stop sign it blocks the outgoing lanes making it possible for 2-3 cars to get out of the lot per green light. It's a disaster. The most annoying part is that there is a circular driveway between the high school and middle school. So you would basically go into the parking lot. Go straight to the circle, drop off, continue around and go back out the way you came in. But - no they want you to drop off in the other area where you have to make the left jacking up the whole process. |
