Emotionally I feel awful because I know how I'd feel if my kitties were missing. Intellectually I know that I would *never* neglect my kitties like this kitty was neglected.

Is the kitty happy in his new home?

Good, then your good deed is done. Maybe they can care for the other one.

Kitty is happy, getting all the food his tummy can handle, settling in with the other 3 cats, and getting doted on by a single woman who adores cats. He apparently won't leave her side.

I'll feel okay about it in the morning.

I had a Big Orange Boy adopt me and I know that guilty feeling. But, Jack is much happier and just LOVES his mommy and his brothers (and girl).

One small note:

Our little socialite kitty was enjoying one of his late nights out when the storms hit. Since I had a 102 degree fever, GusGus went out in the rain to look for him, but he was someplace dry and unfindable. He was in the same predicament (sans the emaciation, etc.), but he WAS wanted.

Ending on a positive note; he eventually came home between downfalls and was mostly dry and happy to be home.

So.....while on the subject of cats.....not to be offensive, but I hate them. Despise them. There are three or four in the neighborhood that come in my yard and poop in the sand under the trampoline or in my flower beds. I don't own a cat (nor a dog, but love dogs), and I have no desire to clean up after cats. I also have no interest in harming one - not only is that cruel, but it's some kids' pet. Animal Control says it's legal to trap on your own property. Like i want to capture some kids' cat?

Any solutions for this poblem I find myself with?

I believe the cats view your yard as unclaimed property - to stop their tresspass, you must leave a sign that they understand. In other words, you must mark your territory. Get yourself a few six packs this weekend and lay down your golden borders.
