Fourths & Fifths here!

sixths here.

The past few years have had beautiful weather. This year, not so much.

Yes, bloody hot. See how no one posted? We were wrecked. :) Plenty of fun though, some great quests this time around.

None of the usual suspects placed, though the Brother Bears did tie for 2nd. I think we need to rally and get swankers back into the top spots next time.

I'll get the shirts uploaded soon, and more details later.

I'm filled with admiration for those who braved the weather for MA. Had it been me, I would have melted into the Esplanade like the Wicked With of the West getting hit with a bucket of water.

I take it for granted how gratifying it is to always know our scores the evening of the game, whereas the vast majority of people have to wait several days.

It may be embassassing, but as a Masters team, our scores are announced at the awards presentation. And before that ... well, our scores were always announced since we placed each and every time we played.

Which leaves me with the meaningless of scoring Brother Bear as "would have come in 2nd" or "would have come in first." Perhaps they might have, but they're not competing. And my point is that neither are we. The Denton Affair has long since ceased to play our "competitive" game, and yesterday in the energy-sapping heat was a prime example. We did not push ourselves to do anything besides play the quests in a relaxed and devil-may-care fashion.

Not that we have any illusions of being able to beat the likes of Brother Bear nowadays. But out-of-competition is out-of-competition.

And out of mouseadventure is where i may be. The quests were very good and fun, but the weather was miserable and, too often, that seems to be the case with MA.

Yep, I'm too old. Though I drank plenty of water, I started feeling very ill in the last 90 minutes. I'm seriously done playing in 90+ degree heat.

Quick hits:

Best Main Street quests ever.

Eye Spys seemed more fun to me (even though we didn't find very many, as usual). They gave us pics of letters from various signs, so it was easier to look for just signs.

The trivia on the Mark Twain was well timed. We just barely got them done in time to disembark. We usually don't do the Twain dealio but this time got a chance.

I swear, next time, we're going to ToonTown first. No more ToonTown at 2:30pm. No MORE! :p

There were some lovely tricky ones, like the Periodic Table of Characters, that took try after try, but when you get it right it's so damn sweet.

I still hate the ones you can't be sure you are right on. You have to pick a Goofy Water color and hope you did all the math right. Of course, since you only did it once and wrote down an answer, it was wrong.

later...

We were lame to do Main Street first along with everyone else. No more Main Street at 9am. We had to go back later to look for something we missed, and it was so much easier with a deserted Main Street at 2:30 when the Happy Haunts will be anywhere but ToonTown.

The Main St. quest was my favorite. We buzzed along quite nicely throughout the day and were doing quite well until the very end. TSI was closed for us (I'm not crying over that one). We ended up with 2 quests at the end of the day that were word scrambles that were frustrating. Plus, we were hot, tired, and in Toon Town. So, after a pretty successful day, it ended on a less satisfying note.

Bottom line for me is - I can't play in that kind of heat any more. What would've been fun is just not fun when it is so hot. I find that the bloom is really off both the park and the game. Maybe it's time to retire for good.
