I loved Mirren's gown, sleeves and all. I thought she looked like the millions of dollars Nicole Kidman's necklance cost. She looked totally classy and gorgeous.

Kidman, as always, looked spectacular.

Zelleweger looked weird to me, then again, she always does, to me. So did Frances McDormand, no surprise there either.

I liked the scaly dress...

I hated Mirrens gown. Loved the red part, hated the sleeves, and they were too distracting.

Kidman does NOT always look spectacular. So was pleasantly pleased she was fantabulous!

I adored Helen Mirren's sleeves, but I see G.C.'s point.

I also get that Coutillard's Mermaid Gown would be a love-it or hate-it. I'm glad I loved it. But I'm always fascinated by anything love-it or hate-it, so I'm granting her best gown status over my previously (misspelled) Jennifer Garner.

I also found it neat that all of the four acting awards went to European actors. Yay!
:)

I thought there were a lot of touching moments last night. Javier Bardiem's acceptance speech was great. The last part in Spanish was lovely. And at one point they panned to him in the audience and his mom was holding the Oscar. That's so cool. I'd never let my mother touch my Oscar. She'd steal it and have it baptized.
:D

I loved Colin Ferrel's intro for the Once song, too. He seemed genuinely touched to be introducing the duo from his home country.

I loved Daniel Day-Lewis's fake coronation. What an amazingly cool moment.

I also thought the Harlem choir was just okay, but the 11 year old singer was wonderful. She could sing and had an amazing voice for her age.

Amy Adams's song was terrific. She held her own and didn't seem too nervous singing a song on her own with no one else on stage. I thought she was better than Chenowith.

What was up with Travolta's hair?

I get the fishy comments, but I loved Cotilard's gown and I loved Mirren.

I'm wracking my fashion-challenged brain, I can't remember when Kidman showed up at an award ceremony not looking great. I'm sure you're right iSm, I just can't picture a bad night for her.

I didn't mind Mirren's, though I fall on the side that disliked the sleeves.

Looking at photos, I like Garner's, but wasn't there another black one with a lot of lace detailing on it? They kept showing one during the preshow, but I'm forgetting who it was.

Well, it looked purple, it looked like some of his scalp was dyed and the whole mess looked like it snapped on like the hair for a Lego action figure...

Was it Swank's dress?

Yeah, that's the one, thanks. That was my favorite until I saw Cotillard.

And speaking of fashion, did anyone notice that two second clip of Bette Davis presenting an Oscar? She was in some sort of Flash Gordon space suit! No kidding, honest!
:D

Oh and I thought Laura Linney was stunning and that Jessica Alba looked like she was wearing a purple drape adorned with a Muppet scalp.
