 Hope you feel safer soon.
This is the 1,500th reply on this thread. |
No, the idiot forgot to lock it last night. He wouldn't have even looked for the remote (he uses the keypad next to the door), but he said the inside of the car smelled like cigarettes. Nothing else was missing from his car, just the remote.
He talked to Carl (next door neighbor) who said he thought he had heard PoohDog barking around 2:30. I don't remember hearing him, but I bet that is what woke me up. David had asked me if I had gone outside for a cigarette when I got up. I didn't rememeber doing that at the time, but I did. Because of the black widow infestation in the patio I turn on all of the lights back there when I smoke. That is probably what spooked the guys off. Imagine being up to no good and all of a sudden there are lights everywhere. |

Soooo....I've allowed my bangs to grow long so that I no longer have to tweeze my eyebrows. Yes, I am that lazy.

Soooo....
I've been MIA for a couple of weeks (about 1,380 posts worth). After my computer being on (with occassional restarts for SW updates) for about a year and a half straight, I decided to shut it down when we went away for a long weekend. When we got back, it wouldn't turn on. After much futzing, I got it to start up... sort of. I don't remember the specifics, but it wasn't good (that much I remember). Finally got it down to a problematic hard drive or corrupted directory. After running three different disk recovery programs, one of which ran about a half dozen times, taking about 36 hours to "rebuild" the directory each time, I gave up. Installed a new HD. Somehow, I f-ed up the power switch during the drive swap (not the power SUPPLY; the stinkin' switch!). So, after a $90 visit to the computer doctor, I got my computer back on Monday. I put the old hard drive in an external case and have been extracting all my files from it. So far, I have beeen able to restore all my email messages and bookmarks. I've re-installed most of my programs. I just need to find all my MP3s and the Disneyphile/Frodo Potter engagement video (seems I spelled her name wrong - duh!). So this evening, after the frustrating end to the Angels game this evening, I didn't have the patience for any more forensics this evening. Soooo.... I'm back. Sorry! |
So -- second Friday in a row I have rearranged my schedule to be home for furnace maintenance. Second week in a row I get stood up. Last week, they called me 15 minutes before my appointment to say they were too busy to keep that appointment, then hung up on me. So I called a second guy. Appointment today for 4. Hubby calls at 4:30 to see what's up. Second furnace guy forgot. And not only is he not willing to come right out, he's not willing to do it evenings or weekends and waive his surcharge. Even though it's his mistake. So in two weeks we go with furnace company #3...

Well...today we moved Dawn into her new house. Last night David was over there moving some stuff for her and she kicked him out, saying that she was having a "girls only" party. Today he found out that it was not girls only. The guy that was trying to score with either her or her step daughter, a guy that was forbidden to be around their house, a guy that Dawn was seen out in public with, a guy that we all think she had an affair with, who hates her kids, was also at the party. She had told me that they had talked last night, but on the phone. She never told me that he had come over. David found out that he was there last night and he got so upset that he came up to me and said that we are leaving NOW.
She is out of control. She has bills 1-3 months past due, but she went out and bought all new livingroom furniture, a new computer desk and a new dining room set. I am now sorry that I had given her money. For the first time in her life she has freedom but does not know how to handle it. At least I know why she hasn't been calling me for the last week; I would have called her out on her behavior. I feel bad, but I can no longer be involved with her. My marriage means more to me than that. |

She's (obviously) going through a tough time, but handling it very poorly. Here's to staying strong for you and YOUR family during this tough time. |
Sooo...
I've been freaking out because I'm nearing the 3 year anniversary of my car accident, which also means I'm nearing the glorious, yet terrifying statute of limitations. Yes, the accident was my fault and I pushed a car into another car. (I was applying the brake quite forcefully (due to another accident up ahead that had just happened and we were all slamming on our brakes), but apparently I'd already locked the brakes and the car refused to stop.) But everything that could go wrong after that did. I broke my arm in the worst possible way (used it as an air bag) and it took forever to heal. (Although I did regain full motion, and I wasn't supposed to.) I went to traffic court and the judge was an old college buddy of the front car's driver. The front guy's insurance company reported me to the state as an uninsured driver AFTER my insurance company had already settled with them. The state sent the notice to some ancient address of mine (why do I bother with change of address forms? And yes I sent the special DoL form, too) and so I didn't have notice my license was *suspended* until I went to renew it and learned I'd been driving on a suspended license for 6 months. Getting the suspension revoked took forever because the first person at the DoL said I had to get the other driver's insurance company's permission to lift the suspension, and the insurance company swore at me, called me every name in the book, and hung up on me. (Turns out I just needed to fax over proof that I was insured at the time, plus a copy of the police report showing that I did provide my info at the time.) Meanwhile, the middle driver *was* uninsured. And decided to sue me. For lots and lots of money. I had a pretty damn big policy, but she wanted more. And apparently she tried to claim everything that had every happened to her. Her first attorney refused to continue with the case. Then nothing for awhile from the second attorney. Finally I had Ryan call my insurance company (I was too freaked out) and not only has this woman been in a really really bad accident since the one I caused, but she's now dead. Deceased. Not-my-fault deceased. And it's really really morbid, but I'm so relieved I can't even describe it. I mean, it was my fault (in the I caused it, not in the I deliberately was a bonehead sense) and that's why I had a big policy -- to financially protect myself should such a thing happen. And of course she (now her estate) should be compensated for her injuries. But she had for some reason decided she wanted to take me down and it's just been a near constant source of stress for me. I won't even drive any more unless I absolutely have to. I can barely tolerate riding in cars. But she's dead. And the estate could still sue me, but without a live client it's not so likely. |
