I thought it was a post-op Carol Channing.

Yes, looks like a mad scientist blend of Carol Channing and Bai Ling.

I think she's pretty.

Or not. I particularly like the makeup. I'm laughing so hard right now I'm crying.

Interesting article on possible link between night jobs and cancer

We just had a meeting with our new "organizational consultant". And by "we" I mean "the very few pre-existing central staff that the head honcho didn't hire over from her prior gig, plus me". We got to the "feedback on our new leaders" portion and she thought we might not want to say anything right then. She got about 5 of those post-it easel pages of feedback that was definitely not what she had been prepared for.

The downside is that with so few of us in the central office, there's not much mystery about who said what.

Could be a bumpy ride....

You know what I love. I love when I've been working for a while and I notice my morning's (or afternoon's) coffee cup sitting on my desk waiting to be thrown away, and when I grab it I find that there's a sip or two of coffee, now ice cold, left in the bottom.

I'm not a big coffee drinker... so tell me please... why is this GOOD ?

Well, it helps that I sit in a heavily air conditioned computer lab. So what's in there isn't just lukewarm or room temperature coffee. Essentially I get a surprise, unexpected sip or two of iced coffee. Mmmm, iced coffee.

As much as my management over the last year or so have proven themselves to be complete dunderheads, I will say this...after I laid out exactly what I thought they were doing wrong in the "feedback" section of my yearly review, they treated me with quite a bit more respect. Not to say they particularly took any of my suggestions (I failed to cure them of their dunderheadedness), but MOST people will respect someone who is being honest about how they feel, as long as you're doing so in a respectful way and still performing your job responsibilities, no matter how misguided you might think said responsibilities are.
