I've tired to explain that's the way to go but she doesn't get it. She also told me she's filled her memory card on her camera (it's over a year old) and has never actually downloaded any photos off of it.

Tell her she needs to take it in to be developed.

While I generally agree with BTD, how about this vintage looking gizmo

Yes but it doesn't have dual tapes so you can tape off of your tapes. And now she's decided she needs a cd burner as well. I have tried to explain you can do this with your computer, she has an imac, but she just does not comprehend.

I have an old stereo I could sell her that has dual tapes, and a turntable, with a separate attachable cd player. Of course, better hope she doesn't want to listen to the radio since the LCD display for that broke in the Northridge Earthquake ;)

Actually... I need the turntable to be able to hook up to a computer and digitize my great-grandfather's old records one of these days, so I can't really get rid of it.

(Seriously... glass records, one-sided records... pre-vinyl stuff)

The quality of a USB turn table probably be better than any cabling from turn table to computer.

The Ion USB turntable has gotten pretty bad reviews for audio quality. I have a Griffin iMic (a little analog > digital USB adapter) plus a Griffin Turntable Connection cable (which, in addition to grounding, takes the left and right RCA jacks and converts them to a mini). That way, I can plug any quality turntable into my mac...
