Yeah, just ruuub it in smarty pants.
We tried to do the TSI quest first for much the same reasons, that island gets hot and crowded. We left the ballroom, broke off from the main herd to cut through the Grand Cal, read our packets as we went, and decided on TSI as our first stop. I guess the staff hadn't counted on us moving that quickly because we got onto TSI and there was no staff member there to give us the quest. That was kind of a crappy start. Turned out to not matter much thanks to the closure later in the day, but it did waste a good 20-30 minutes for us.
But yeah, ToonTown first will be our new mantra. We didn't end up back there until around 1:30. Biiiig mistake.
Our other kinda big mistake was not bothering to ride HM to get the missing name needed to finish the quest. We were right there, the line was short. But it just seemed like a huge chunk of time to spend, and I wasn't even sure I'd get the right answer even if I had ridden it (I've never bothered to get proficient at that particular type of logic puzzle...which is stupid because the MA writers seem to love 'em. I think I'd better get on that). But we really should have just gone ahead and done it. In the end we weren't rushed for time.
The heat didn't really seem to get to me much. Maybe it was because we did get a lot done early and were able to slow the pace down during the hottest part of the day, or maybe the breeze that kept flipping our quest pages softened the scorching blow, but yesterday didn't stand out as all that uncomfortably hot. That's probably still reserved for a couple of those DCA events.
I LOVED the Main Street quests ("Disneyland/Not Disneyland" and the hotel story one). Really clever, and led to a bizarre moment of synchronicity. After we found the "Snow Owl Peaches" in the Market House window, we stepped aside to write the answer down and figure out the next step. While we stood there, a family passes behind us. It wasn't too long after we had spotted the crate, but long enough that it's not like these people saw us pointing at it or heard us talking about it. But a little girl looked in the window and asked, "Mom, what are Snow Owl Peaches?"
