This does 2 things. It allows the legislative branch to pass laws such as the Civil Rights Act without it being struck down by the Supreme Court on the grounds of, "It ain't in the Constitution, so it ain't Constitutional." Otherwise, such laws would have to be passed as amendments.

Secondly, it's what's invoked to justify one's implied "right to privacy".

Soooo....I just finished watching the home-game of Gonzaga vs Stanford, and I just wanted to extend my condolences to the Stanford alumni that I know to frequent these boards.

:D

There is someone in my office that recently has been limping on his foot. He wants everyone to ask him why he's limping. I know this may sound mean, but I will never ask him.

So, I ran 3/4 of a mile yesterday. It's not much, but it represents the longest uninterupted distance I've run in, oh, 13 years, ever since I discovered I had developed exhertional asthma after collapsing about 3/4 of the way through a mile in PE. It took something like 10 minutes (hardly the 6:18 mile pace I was running 14 years ago), and I paid for it with an evening of asthmatic coughing fits. But it's still a pretty significant accomplishment. I should be able to make a mile by the end of the week.

Now, imagine what I could do if I manage to lose this extra 20 pounds hanging around.

I have asthma, too. I don't know if it's exhertional, though.
I have to take Advair for it.

You'd think I could spell my own affliction..

Do you get spontaneous asthma attacks, or only when you exert yourself? Exertional asthma only affects me when I try to do any sort of aeorobic activity. I don't get sudden attacks, I just get short of breath quickly, and if I push too much, I get light headed and nauseated for a while and once that passes, I cough for a few hours. I have an albuterol inhaler. If I use that before I exercise, it extends the ammount of time I can go before I'm affected, and lessens the attack, but I gotta remember to take it 30 minutes before I start exercising. Last night, I actually didn't take it at all (I'm trying to build up my natural stamina).

No wonder I couldn't find it on Google. It kept asking me 'Do you mean exertional asthma?' And I'm all like 'No, stupid Google.' :D

The second one. Aerobic stuff kills me. But with the Advair (as long as I take it regularly) it doesn't affect me. I do keep an albuterol inhaler with me at all times. Just in case. I haven't used it in a long time. I go to the gym and do the treadmill and nothing happens. Before the Advair, I couldn't even think of doing it.

I have that, bad sinuses and Graskin's Malaloma. Other than that, I'm okay. :D

GD ~ You don't smoke cigarettes do you? I don't. I did it once for a film I was in and hated it. But that will totally make your asthma worse.

:)

I'm all the way up to 3 or 4 packs of cloves...per year (and out of those 3 or 4 packs, I must give a quarter of them to my firends, and lose another quarter of them).

I was fine until I was 14 when, after my 4th or 5th bout with bronchitis (twice turning into walking pneumonia), my lungs finally gave up.

I'll tell you one thing, though, it's definitely improved since moving to OC out of the smog-choked Valley.

This is a little off the subject of asthma, but my sinusitis improved after I moved from Honolulu to LA. I guess all the pollen did me in. My sinuses are even clearer in Boston. Weird.
