Ok, where is my can of Silly String? And what was her flight number? ;)

Sooo..

It turns out that wall in the Tigers cage was not quite as tall as advertised. In fact it was three feet shorter than standards. Oh and that mote.... Apparently it was of the water free variety.

You better go visit them critters now before the civil lawsuits bankrupts the LA zoo.

Of course the "standard" is presented as a "recommendation", not a requirement and zoo oversight organizations had inspected the enclosure and declared it adequate, so I don't think the zoo can be held responsible.

Although they should get some deserved flack for saying it was 18 feet when in fact it was 12. As per usual, it's not the act, it's the cya lying that takes place after that act.

I had to drop my friend V at the airport. :( I hope the return home is good for her. I hope I get to see her in April.

Yes, true. But I believe the story is that the 3 teens were taunting or doing something to harrass the tiger. According to a news report this morning, the 2 surviving guys are not cooperating with the police regarding the investigation as to what exactly happened. Which makes me think, aha, they were doing something stupid to incite the tiger's temper

Oh, it certainly seems to be the case (dad's quote about "sticks and throwing stones" definitely lends credence to that version of events) and if it is, the punks deserved what they got. But it's still idiotic of the zoo to have lied about the size of the wall.

I'll bet it was a laser pointer. Cats go nuts for those things.

That's pretty standard for below grade exhibits so far as I've ever seen. Zoo motes rarely have water in them unless water is specifically a deterrent to the animal (which it wouldn't be for tigers). Filling the moat with water would tend to bring the tiger even closer to the people, which is bad -- not because it is more likely to get out but because the closer people get to an animal the stupider they tend to behave.

I can't get my ass motivated enough to go to the gym. If I were able to sleep and take a nap, I'd do that instead since I'm incredibly tired, but... ugh... too wound up for that.

I think I'll whine for a bit and then just go.

Or not.

Maybe I will take a long bath with a book.... ooh.... reading!!
