The entry level attorneys for 20-25K/year, for 80 hour weeks with no benefits? I believe I already said that wasn't something I was in a position to accept. Other people do. That is their choice. I've made mine. I can take a pay cut, but that's less than I made 10 years ago, with minimal education and no work experience.
As for alumni - those avenues are closed to me. The director of the career center has apparently cut me off for failing to bring the school the glory of a clerkship. They have to focus their attentions on the students with promise. Anyway, this isn't something worth rehashing. I've made my decision. |

When you are on the other side of this equation and looking at a fist full of generic resume responses to your add, the few (and I really do mean few) that talk specifically to your needs with relevant examples related to the opening really stand out. |
I'm so sorry it has worked out this way, Pru. I wish you the best. Perhaps something else will come up, and in many cases just having any kind of degree at all helps get you a better possition and pay.
I guess life has handed you a big 'ol bunch of lemons. So now you are making lemon aide. All you need now is to find someone with the vodka. Then you can have a party! Good luck to you. You desirve better. |
There are no alumni groups at all? No other students that you have contact with? You have absolutely no way to find out what career paths your fellow students have chosen? Can't even google search your school to find others that have gone there? Classmates.com, Facebook, etc, etc?
I already know your answer is an absolute "no". You've made your decision. Why you decided to go to this school, spend your valuable money, years of your life and endure the mental anguish of legal study so you can call yourself a failure immediately is beyond me. Don't tell me you went through all that hell for "fun". I saw your dozens of posts to the contrary. We all read along as you stressed, studied, endured lame classes, researched, crammed, stressed some more. We all wished you luck, we all commisserated, we all had you in our thoughts, every single time you posted about your trying time at school. And now, after all you've illustrated for us here, you're giving up. Well I for one am a bit disappointed, and I'm sure I speak for many other swankers as well (thanks for the mojo, guys). I promise, this is my last post on the topic. I know you're just angry at me for pointing it out, which is the natural reaction to being called on bowing to your inner fears. I wish you strength! :) |
