Shot dead is the most accurate. It tells you that the people were dead, and it tells you how they got dead. Anything else such as "gunned down," "homicide" or "murder" requires additional facts to which the news folks might not be formally privy.

you mean a sawzall? 773H yeah! love mine. cant believe I lived and worked as long as I did without one. there was a video floating around of a guy cutting a car in half with one. need to find that.

(whats even funnier is he gets into the front half and drives it away afterward)

More correct might be "shot to death".

i hate dumbing down my scripts for reading on the air... but it must be done since you do not know who is listening... and most people have at least the knowledge of elementary words... even when your reporting on the only college radio station in the area...

For the anal retentive like me, Sawzall is a brand name (put out by Milwaukee tool) of a tool known as a reciprocating saw.

If Sawzall wasn't the first reciprocating saw, it was the one that popularized it.
