I used to have a link here back in the old days. We tried to start the visual equivalent of the "open mic" thread back then. I recently changed hosts, and now my gallery is broken on my site, but I'm going to re-vamp anyway to go pro, so I promise I'll put up a new link when that happens! We need to resurrect that thread idea anyway...eh?

Yes! And after 2 hours of Broadway tunes he closed the show with "The Line".

MouseWife- that's awesome that your friend is making noticeable progress in the walking! Having a buddy definitely helps.

I'm not on the buddy system so much, but I am trying (and mostly succeeding) to avoid sodas and corn syrup. Some days I do better than others. I agree about the french-fry craving going away. I can even eat fast food and leave the hubby's fries untouched, or only eat a couple of them. Trying to eat more at home, where I have control over my food.

I'm just glad that I made it through the December non-exercise/crazy time without gaining any weight. Now I'm back on the bike as long as the weather holds, and I'm hoping now I can start losing again. I'm excited because my friend is working out on her stationary bike, and is hoping in a year or so she can go biking with me on the trails. :) That'd be fun. She won't be able to keep up with the group right away so it'd be just she and I, but that's ok too.

Yay for good things for you, lizziebeth! :)

Well, we're home from the job. More on that later.

I returned to a call from my mother, still in the hospital and very stressed out. My sister and father are being mean to her, constantly tearing into her for not going to the hospital sooner, telling her that it's her fault she can't walk more, because she let the arthritis get to her and refused knee replacement a couple years ago, and that if she makes it out of this, she needs to have her knees replaced or my father will leave her. Not the time and place, people!!! Then, my father called, and said, "Your mother is looking for sympathy. Don't give it to her. It's her own fault that she's still there."

That's it.

Ken and I were setting aside a small amount from this job to go to dinner at the Edison. Instead, I'm calling my favorite florist in Vegas tomorrow, and telling them to send over a colorful bouquet with a plush Mickey. The family has given her nothing, and my sister even complained to her today about having to go over there for a couple hours every other day. Seriously, WTF?!?!

I told my father that I'll remember to not give sympathy if he ever ends up in the hospital, since he'll have obviously put himself there. I also pointed out to him that he was whistling a much different tune last week before the biopsy results were in, and his only rebuttal was that he was just tired and hungry and "didn't know what he was saying" last week. Yeah, right.

Sheesh, I've been known to be brash and blunt, but really, there's a good way and a bad way to say those things, T. Cruelty is not inspiring and won't help your mom get healthier with her lifestyle.

Hope your mom enjoys the Mickey and the flowers. She is having problems. Sure she may have aggravated them by her behavior, but she could still use a little encouragement.

Hugs to you DP! Family can be so hard to deal with sometimes! Send love to your Mom from the Wolfpack!
