The old MCAS El Toro is now at risk. From the OCFA website these streets are closed: Irvine Blvd. - closed between Modjeska and Pusan

Irvine Blvd goes straight through the base. Pusan used to be a street that turned into base housing. There are empty shells of houses and structures. And lots of brush.

They were using the Walmart parking lot as a storage/staging area (and though I didn't get pics, the firemen were at the In-n-Out there, getting their first break/meal in about 24 hours)

When we flew in late Sunday night, we saw one of the fires circling a hill - beautiful from the air but scary as hell.

Please excuse our absence, we were trying to get un-jetlagged yesterday, but our offers of help were made to NM - we have plenty of space to put people up here in Orange.

Our air quality here is still awful, but thankfully we are buried in the city far enough away from any brush.

Good to read these threads and see that everyone is safe.

The toll roads are open. Santiago Canyon Rd is still closed and Modjeska Cyn and Portola are still closed.

The jackhole who set this did 3 starts.

Chief Chip Prather said. "There were three separate starts: two on one side of the road and one on the other, and obviously we are actively investigating that."
