There's a McRib locator, McRib facebook groups, and many blog posts from cultists.

I'd say the word "fan" is more appropriate.

McRib fans don't refuse to eat any other type of sandwich.

McRib fans don't denigrate those who dislike McRibs.

McRib fans don't insist you will never go back to anything else once you've tried a McRib.

McRib fans don't feel personally insulted if you tell them you don't like McRibs, or criticize McRibs or McDonalds.

McRibs fans don't feel they are superior or hipper than non McRibs fans.

Yes, definitely not cultists.

I have several, thank you. And I am capable of reading them.

Cult [kuhlt]

2. an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, esp. as manifested by a body of admirers: the physical fitness cult.
3. the object of such devotion.
4. a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.
5. Sociology . a group having a sacred ideology and a set of rites centering around their sacred symbols.
6. a religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader.
7. the members of such a religion or sect.
8. any system for treating human sickness that originated by a person usually claiming to have sole insight into the nature of disease, and that employs methods regarded as unorthodox or unscientific.

Some of those definitions are indeed apt for some of the fans referred to in the linked stories. Some people might even use hyperbole and refer to them as "mana (sic) from heaven".

Then you must have read different stories than I did.

I'm done with you. You have moved to the ranks of annoying troll. You are now on ignore. Begone, you have no powers here!

I never called you a cultist, JWBear. I was poking gentle fun at the mostly corpulent losers who have an inordinate sense of excitement over a fast-food sandwich.

Obviously I hit too close to home.

innerSpaceman 10-28-2010 05:27 PM

I've never had a McRib, and I don't intend to start now.

But apparently, someone can't take a McRibbing. :p
