Mojo, luck, and just about everything I can realistically give from afar is yours, Pru.

We have a sign on the microwave from Management: "To prevent unnecessary evacuations, please do not leave food unattended in the Microwave" :D

They try to ban popcorn from our office.

You could also use-
"To prevent unnecessary evacuations, please do not leave food unattended in the refrigerator"

Every year, in support of the great Greek tradition of ostrakismos, management allows the firing of one employee based on popular vote of all the employees. Please keep in mind that the "winner" in each of the last 5 years was a frequent microwave popcorn eater.

Fascinating. The entire point of ostrakismos is to prevent any individual in a democracy from having too much power. Could you form a voting block and get rid of your CEO? If not then it rather much goes against the grain of the entire concept.

What you describe sounds more like the Roman sense of exile. Complete loss of title plus banishment forever.

Just to be sure, you do realize that my post was a joke? We don't really take a vote and fire someone? I just think it is a fate worthy of people who microwave popcorn in an office space.

Trust me, I know the difference between what I described and the actual practice of ostracism (for one, quality potsherds are harder to come by these days). I just thought it was funnier with the big fancy word in there.

Damn. I already had a draft memo written and ready to submit to upper management on how to implement this policy here with you cited in the supporting evidence section.
